Harris Prepares for First Campaign Interview Amid Criticism of Lack of Substance and Interviews

On Thursday night, Dana Bash of CNN will interview Vice President Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz in Atlanta during their first campaign appearance together.

For the past 38 days, Harris has been criticized for not answering significant questions from the media or participating in any events.

In contrast to former President Trump, who has held at least two press conferences and participated in interviews with various outlets, including Planet Chronicle Channel.

Trump and Harris are scheduled to meet for a Sept. 10 televised debate.

Prior to the interview, viewers have been reminded of previous discussions, such as the 2021 conversation with NBC's Lester Holt where Harris faced criticism for her response to a question regarding not visiting the Mexican border.

In a viral moment on the Republican side of the aisle, Harris told Holt, "I haven’t been to Europe, and I don't understand the point you're making. I’m not discounting the importance of the border."

The Wall Street Journal editorial board characterized Harris' speech at the convention as "confident" and "optimistic," but "mostly devoid of policy substance."

The outcome of whether she can maintain this for the next 12 weeks will decide if she becomes America's 47th President, according to the editorial board.

In recent days, Harris has attracted some high-profile surrogates to campaign with her.

Following Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to drop his presidential bid and support Trump, the Harris campaign announced a series of joint appearances with Kerry Kennedy, who is Kennedy Jr.'s sister and a vocal critic of his political activities.

In Los Angeles in 1968, Robert F. Kennedy Sr. spoke onstage with labor activist Dolores Huerta, who was present when Kennedy was assassinated during his campaign trail.

On August 7th, Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, stated that he was merely having some fun when he happened to be on the same tarmac as Air Force Two in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Vance approached Harris' ride and informed reporters that he wanted to inspect his future aircraft and inquire about her reluctance to respond to media inquiries.

"I have enough respect for you and the American people to come and address your questions."

The announcement of her first interview on Thursday was criticized on X due to the inclusion of Walz.

OutKick founder Clay Travis stated that Kamala Harris is doing a joint interview with Tim Walz on Thursday, and she cannot conduct an interview alone.

Dustin Grage, a Minnesota Republican strategist, believes that Walz is a more effective communicator than Kamala Harris and shared a video of Walz being interviewed by a CBS affiliate.

"He will be her support animal in Thursday's interview with CNN because it will be pre-recorded, as it's challenging to remember all the lies during softball interviews."

Before her interview, Harris and Walz embarked on a South Georgia bus tour that starts and ends in Savannah. Although Chatham County, where the city is situated, is securely in Democrat control, the campaign intends to use the stops on the campaign trail to attract more voters to the Harris-Walz team.

In southwest Georgia, the seat of longtime Democrat Rep. Sanford Bishop in Warner Robins-Albany is viewed as a potential but borderline pickup for Republicans if they have a successful election year.

According to Cook PVI ratings, the GOP seats held by Reps. Buddy Carter and Austin Scott in the region remain secure.

Michael Tyler, the campaign communications director for Harris, stated that the bus tour provides an opportunity to visit areas that are typically inaccessible and ensures that the campaign is competitive in all communities.

Tyler informed the Associated Press that Harris continued President Biden's tradition of attending informal gatherings, but the locations have been altered, citing a recent stop in Aliquippa, Pa., where they attended a high school football practice.

Walz is a former teacher and football coach.

Both parties have viewed Georgia as a contentious state, with Democrats winning both U.S. Senate seats in recent years and Trump engaging in a war with popular GOP Gov. Brian Kemp.

Recently, the governor's longtime critic praised him for his "help and support" in the Peach State, causing a change in the Republican nominee's tone.

Trump emphasized the significance of a win for our party and country, stating, "A victory here is crucial to our success," on X.
