Harris has only 4 days remaining to fulfill his promise of conducting a sit-down interview.
Marc Thiessen stated that turning a routine task into a high-stakes event is being done.
Before the end of the month, Vice President Kamala Harris must schedule the formal interview she and her team pledged.
Despite the mystery surrounding the exact date, time, place, and media outlet for her first formal interview as the Democratic Party's nominee, Harris has stated that she wants to schedule it before the end of August.
In the remaining four days of the month, there have been numerous inquiries about the interview within the Washington Beltway. Some of these questions include who will make the final decision on the interview for the Harris campaign, what message she will convey, and who will serve as the spokesperson asking her questions.
According to Politico, Harris campaign staffers have reportedly been asking journalists who they think the vice president should talk to, with CBS’ Norah O'Donnell and NBC’s Lester Holt being among the frontrunners. There have also been internal disagreements over how Harris should approach the interview.
Some journalists are beginning to evaluate the process with less than a week left for Harris to schedule something.
"Kamala Harris's lack of interviews before the convention was understandable as she was finalizing her policy proposals, but now it's crucial for her to do interviews extensively as we're choosing a president, emphasized political commentator Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, a progressive news network."
"The intense internal conflict over conducting a single interview is a telling sign," conservative columnist Marc Thiessen wrote Tuesday morning on X, formerly Twitter. "This is not a significant decision. It reveals their lack of trust in her and turns a routine task into a high-pressure situation."
Some of Harris' supporters have urged her to continue avoiding the media, as former GOP strategist Rick Wilson said last week that she has no obligation to do interviews at the moment.
Legendary Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino expressed the same sentiment as talk show host Bill Maher last Sunday, stating that "sometimes it's just about winning."
"I'll vote for her regardless of what she says in the interview, so don't worry about it," Tarantino stated.
Since the Democratic National Convention ended last week, Harris has been using a lighter schedule to prepare for her upcoming Sept. 10 debate and plan her future media strategy, according to Politico.
The Trump campaign responded to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment by directing them to a Tuesday press release criticizing Harris for not giving interviews for 37 days. The Harris campaign did not respond.
""Kamala is avoiding the media because she doesn't want to discuss her extreme plans," the statement in the press release revealed."
