Earlier this month, the vice president faced criticism after footage revealed her using different accents during campaign events in Detroit and Pittsburgh, despite being only a few hours apart.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was questioned by Planet Chronicle' Peter Doocy about the vice president's accent, with Doocy asking, "When did the vice president acquire a southern accent?"
Earlier this month, Jean-Pierre stated from the White House podium that he had no clue about the topic being discussed.
"Doocy stated that she used the same tone of voice when discussing unions in Detroit as she did in Pittsburgh, and it appeared as though she had a southern drawl."
""Do you think Americans seriously believe this question is important?" Jean-Pierre asked. "They care about the economy, lowering costs, and healthcare, that's what Americans prioritize," he replied."
In the upcoming days, Harris is making an effort to win over Black voters. During a dinner with the Congressional Black Caucus, President Biden praised Harris as the first Black and South Asian woman vice president and stated, "I hope God will allow her to become the first woman president of the United States of America."
On Tuesday, Harris will meet with members of the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia. On Thursday, she'll participate in a live-streamed rally led by Oprah Winfrey and featuring groups such as "Win with Black Women," "White Women: Answer the Call," and "South Asians for Harris," according to the Associated Press.
