Harris adds policy page to campaign website, dedicates multiple sections to Trump.
Kamala Harris updates campaign website with new policies 50 days after Biden's departure.
Since President Biden endorsed her 50 days ago, Vice President Harris has finally posted policies on her campaign website. The website divides Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's policy proposals into four sections: "Build an Opportunity Economy and Lower Costs for Families," "Safeguard Our Fundamental Freedoms," "Ensure Safety and Justice For All," and "Keep America Safe, Secure, and Prosperous."
Despite formally accepting the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago 17 days ago, Harris' campaign website still lacked any policy plans, with pages only for buying merchandise, donating, and learning about her background.
Harris's website now promises to cut taxes for middle class families by ensuring no one earning less than $400,000 a year will pay more in taxes. The website also promises that Harris and Walz will ensure the wealthiest Americans and the largest corporations pay their fair share, so they can take action to build up the middle class while reducing the deficit. This includes rolling back Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, enacting a billionaire minimum tax, quadrupling the tax on stock buybacks, and other reforms to ensure the very wealthy are playing by the same rules as the middle class.
The website claims that Harris and Walz will provide tax cuts to more than 100 million working and middle-class families by restoring the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit, and by expanding the Child Tax Credit to offer a $6,000 credit to families with newborn children.
The tax rate on long-term capital gains for high earners will be 28%, as the government believes that promoting investment leads to economic growth and job creation, ultimately strengthening the economy.
The website highlights the stark contrast between Harris' "lowering costs agenda" and Trump's plans to increase prices, weaken the middle class, reduce Social Security and Medicare, eliminate education and preschool programs, and abolish the Affordable Care Act.
The policy section of the Harris website primarily targets her opponent, with a subsection under each policy titled "Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda."
Trump and his campaign have consistently denied any affiliation with Project 2025, a policy proposal from the Heritage Foundation for the next Republican administration. Harris' website claims Trump would ban abortion and restrict IVF treatment, even though the Republican nominee has stated the opposite. Trump has stated that he would not enact a federal abortion ban and has recently said he would consider ensuring government or insurance coverage for fertility treatment.
According to Harris, Trump's plans would increase family expenses by at least $3,900 annually by imposing a Trump sales tax on imported essentials such as gas, food, clothing, and medicine, and would also increase rents and add $1,200 to the typical American mortgage.
According to Harris' website, Trump's economic plans would lead to a recession by mid-2025, cost America 3 million jobs, threaten clean energy jobs, increase the debt by $5 trillion, cause inflation to skyrocket, and only benefit the wealthiest Americans.
Harris' website criticizes Trump as a "convicted criminal who only cares about himself" and claims that he has "proven time and time again" to be untrustworthy in regards to issues such as gun violence and border security. The website also accuses Trump of implementing the Project 2025 agenda if elected, which would allow him to consolidate power, control the Department of Justice and FBI, and rule as a dictator on "day one."
The Trump campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
Harris has been a tireless and effective diplomat on the world stage, and will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to protect U.S. forces and interests from Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups. Despite boycotting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress earlier this year, her website states that she will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself and ensure Israel has the ability to do so.
""She and President Biden are working tirelessly to secure Israel's safety, release hostages, put an end to the suffering in Gaza, and enable the Palestinian people to achieve their right to dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination," the website states."
