Gov. Shapiro snubbed by Harris as VP pick to please anti-Israel wing of Dems on social media.
On Tuesday, Tim Walz was chosen as Harris's vice presidential running mate.
The selection of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as the Democratic vice presidential nominee has led politicians, pundits, and conservative voices to assert that the party has a problem with antisemitism.
Ilya Shapiro of the Manhattan Institute posted on X that Walz's selection by Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday over Gov. Shapiro highlights the depth of the Dems' antisemitism problem.
During the VP selection process, Shapiro, a Jewish individual, was compelled to defend his stance on Israel after an op-ed he wrote over three decades ago, which criticized the Palestinian people and praised his experience as an Israeli army volunteer, resurfaced.
Some have claimed that Shapiro's failure to be chosen was due to the opposition of a specific faction within the Democratic Party towards Israel and its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
Despite agreement among America's right, left, and center that Josh Shapiro was Harris' best pick for VP, Shapiro's being Jewish disqualified him, according to former GOP Congressman Lee Zeldin.
"The Democratic Party's current state is revealed through this."
"GOP Sen. Tom Cotton stated on X that Kamala is the most anti-Israel member of Biden's team, consistently aligning with Hamas and Iran's interests. Shapiro and Walz's views on Israel are similar, but Harris's stance is different. Harris's pro-Hamas, antisemitic base opposed Shapiro because he is Jewish."
Mike Berg, NRSC spokesperson, stated that Kamala Harris did not choose Josh Shapiro for the position because antisemitic progressives disapproved of his Jewish background.
"As the nominee, Harris made her first major decision and gave in to the pro-Hamas faction within the Democratic Party."
Although Shapiro was not selected by Harris as her running mate, he delivered a passionate speech at a Philadelphia rally, attacking former president Trump and his vice presidential candidate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio.
"During his speech, Shapiro stated, "I rely on my family and my faith, which motivates me to serve, and I am proud of my faith.""
"Adam Loewy, a prominent Austin, Texas attorney, stated on X that the only reason Josh Shapiro was not chosen as VP was because he is a Pro Israel Jew. The Left would have been devastated if he had been selected. Despite his popularity as the Governor of a crucial swing state, he was passed over."
"Shapiro's support for Israel and being Jewish made him unacceptable to the Democratic Party, as Richard Goldberg, Senior Adviser at Foundation for Defense of Democracies, stated on X."
"Planet Chronicle contributor Ari Fleischer posted on X that the D party is not home for strong supporters of Israel, as evidenced by their treatment of Joe Lieberman and now Josh Shapiro. The Jewish community should recognize the power in the D party lies with its anti-Israel progressive base."
JD Vance, Trump's VP candidate, stated on Tuesday morning that if it wasn't Josh Shapiro, they would not have picked Shapiro out of antisemitism in their own caucus and party.
The Harris campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
