George Clooney and Politicians Privately Agree That Biden Is Unfit
At a recent fundraiser, the A-lister remarked that President Biden was "the same man we all saw at the debate."
George Clooney has abandoned Joe Biden, despite his recent efforts to assist the president in raising vast sums of money.
The entertainer's reasoning is what matters, regardless of whether he is in the business of politics or not.
"In a New York Times op-ed yesterday, Clooney wrote that the Joe Biden he was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the "big F-ing deal" Biden of 2010, and he was not even the same man he saw at the debate in 2020."
A lifelong Democrat who has closely observed Biden has expressed his deep admiration for the president.
"November's election outcome with this president is not promising. Not only will we lose the House, but we will also lose the Senate. This is not just my personal belief; it is the consensus of every senator, Congress member, and governor I've spoken to privately. Despite their public statements, every one of them agrees that we will lose."
The uncertainty of our current political climate is due to the lack of a parliamentary system, which would allow a vote of no confidence to remove Biden from the nomination.
Despite the calls from pundits and politicians for him to step down, Biden has stated that he has no intention of doing so, and no one can compel him to do so.
If the noise level and pressure become too intense, what then?
Yesterday on "Morning Joe," Nancy Pelosi was questioned about her thoughts on Biden's decision to run against the "elites."
"The former speaker stated that the president has the power to decide whether he will run, and time is running out for him to make a decision."
Not exactly a ringing endorsement. More like a bat signal.
Michael Bennet was the first Senate Democrat to predict that Biden would lose in November and the Republicans would gain control of both chambers.
I have spoken with Clooney on multiple occasions. He is an intelligent individual, the offspring of a reporter. He may have paved the way for others to express themselves.
Yesterday on "The View," Michael Douglas expressed his admiration for Biden and stated, "While I'm not overly worried today or tomorrow, I am deeply concerned about the future a year from now."
The defection of Clooney is more significant than the pleas of Colbert and Stewart because he was a part of the campaign and the comparison to the poor debate was devastating.
Biden has always wanted to be president and is not likely to give up the position, even if Clooney continues to invite him to Lake Como. I reported on his first campaign in 1987, following an aneurysm that required emergency brain surgery. No one can compel him to relinquish the presidency and the use of Air Force One.
When a candidate is repeatedly written off and becomes president, they often develop a belief in their own abilities, despite criticism from critics and naysayers. This happened to Donald Trump in 2016.
Biden has been slow to start interviews. He just announced he'll sit down with NBC anchor Lester Holt next Monday. The president should have done a half-dozen interviews by now, not just calling Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski to complain about the elites.
Biden's performance in the George Stephanopoulos sitdown was tentative and low-energy, despite his denial of the polls showing Trump widening his lead since the CNN debate.
Yesterday on his podcast, NBC's Chuck Todd revealed that a "senior" Cabinet member had told him two years ago that Trump couldn't run for president again in his current condition.
""The topic is well-known and everyone was hesitant to discuss it," Todd remarked."
Not everyone was aware, and it's impossible to reveal an off-the-record discussion.
The debate exposed the obvious decline of Biden, despite journalists having limited access to him and his inner circle.
According to The New York Times, the president may be attempting to delay action, buying time until it's too late for others to intervene and allow Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer or any other Democrat to take control.
In my opinion, the only thing that could persuade Biden to reconsider is if Hakeem Jeffries, Jim Clyburn, and Pelosi visit the White House and inform him that the party wants him to step down. However, even then, the president who won 99% of the delegates may remain stubborn and refuse to comply.
