Experts express concern that the 2nd assassination attempt against Trump may indicate he is still in danger.
A security expert, Gene Patrino, cautioned that more attacks may be directed at Trump, as he predicted.
Experts warned Planet Chronicle Digital that former President Donald Trump may still be in danger of assassination attempts, as he has faced two known attempts in a two-month period.
Gene Petrino, a retired SWAT commander for Florida's Plantation Police Department for 26 years and an expert on active shooter incidents, stated on Tuesday that this is not the final attempt and they will continue to come at him.
Petrino stated that since others may view it that way, the only responsible course of action is to further enhance his security measures.
On Sunday, Trump was escorted from the green at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, after suspect Ryan Routh allegedly aimed a rifle at him just outside the club's perimeter. Routh fled but was later apprehended on I-95.
Authorities are investigating the incident as an apparent assassination attempt against Trump.
On July 13, 20-year-old Matthew Crooks shot Trump in the ear during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The attack injured two others and killed local dad and volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore.
The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee began two days after the attack in July. Despite the attack, Trump attended the convention and wore a bandage over his ear while accepting the GOP's presidential nomination.
If I had not moved my head at the last second, the assassin's bullet would have hit its target and I would not be here tonight. We would not be together, Trump said in his RNC acceptance speech.
"Despite bullets flying overhead, I remained calm. However, the Secret Service agents were putting themselves in danger. They were in a highly dangerous area. Suddenly, bullets began to miss them by a small margin. Then, our Secret Service sniper, using only one bullet, eliminated the threat from a greater distance."
"This is my fear. When it rains, it pours … I don't think it stops at two." — Bill Stanton, former NYPD officer and security expert
Unlike Crooks, no shots were fired during Sunday's attack as a Secret Service agent spotted the apparent failed assassination attempt and fired at the suspect first.
Security experts have expressed concern after Petrino praised the Secret Service and other law enforcement for protecting Trump on Sunday, preventing an unthinkable event.
He commended their performance this time, stating that they appeared to be focused. However, he added that he felt "there should have been more" effort from Trump's security team to apprehend Routh, who was discovered approximately 300 yards away from the 45th president.
On Tuesday, Bill Stanton, a former NYPD officer and an executive protection expert, expressed his concern to Planet Chronicle Digital that there is a possibility of bad actors making another attempt on Trump's life.
Stanton expressed his fear, stating that when it rains, it pours and he believes it doesn't stop at two.
Both Stanton and Petrino advocated for increased security around Trump, mirroring the demands from Capitol Hill for Trump to receive heightened protection after the second attempt.
Sens. Roger Marshall and Tommy Tuberville wrote to acting Director Ronald Rowe on Tuesday, urging him to provide additional protective resources to the USSS detail assigned to President Trump, including greater staffing capabilities to secure a broader perimeter.
The senators, including James Risch, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, Bill Cassidy, Rick Scott, and Bill Hagerty, requested that Rowe and the Secret Service provide President Trump with the same level of protective resources as a sitting president.
The former president, Petrino, and Stanton attributed the second attempt to inflammatory political rhetoric, with Trump specifically targeting remarks from the Biden-Harris administration.
"Trump stated on Monday that the suspect was influenced by Biden and Harris's rhetoric and took action based on it. According to Trump, their words are responsible for him being targeted with violence, despite his claim to be saving the country. He added that both Biden and Harris are responsible for the country's destruction, both internally and externally."
In the interview, Trump criticized Biden and Harris for calling him a "threat to democracy," while portraying themselves as leaders promoting "unity."
"The real threat lies within the enemy," Trump stated.
At the White House press conference on Tuesday, Peter Doocy from Planet Chronicle inquired whether the administration intended to abandon using terms such as "threat" to describe Trump following the second assassination attempt. Doocy pointed out in his question that Trump has also made similar attacks against Biden and Harris.
The use of the word was defended by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who referenced the January 6, 2021 incident when Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol.
This week, Trump resumed his campaigning, with a rally on Long Island scheduled for Wednesday. Prior to the event, false rumors circulated on social media about explosives being discovered near the location of the rally.
Officials dismissed the reports as false, but the underlying concerns and potential threats against Trump persist.
