Democrats criticize Harris for being the last to be consulted during Biden's decision to evacuate Afghanistan.
The third anniversary of the flawed withdrawal from the conflict-ridden nation has arrived this year.
Vice President Kamala Harris is being criticized by top Republicans for revealing that she was the last person consulted when President Biden decided to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
The anniversary of the suicide bombing at Abbey Gate, which resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members and injuries to others, has sparked criticism.
In an April 2021 interview with CNN's Dana Bash, Harris discussed her role in the decision to evacuate the war-torn region, stating that she was the last person in the room when the president made the call and was comfortable with the decision, admiring his courage.
The third anniversary of the tragic event has prompted some Republicans to criticize the now-Democratic presidential candidate's remarks, arguing that it reflects her involvement in the disastrous decision.
On Monday, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wrote that it is morally abhorrent that Vice President Harris boasted about being the last person in the room for Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal. The American people deserve a full explanation of her role in this disaster.
Both Pompeo and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., included a video of an interview in their posts marking the three-year anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal. In the video, Johnson called the withdrawal "disastrous" and paid tribute to the fallen service members by name.
"Burgum stated on Planet Chronicle that the rose should not only be pinned on Biden, but also on Harris, as she boasts about being the last person in the room with Biden when they made the decision to choose a specific date, which was done for political reasons."

Kelly Loeffler, a former senator from Georgia, contended on Monday that while "Harris has presided over numerous failures," her most regrettable and "tragic" act was "approving the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan." Meanwhile, Dave McCormick, the Republican Senate candidate from Pennsylvania, criticized Harris for being "proud of being the last person in the room" during a decision that led to the demise of 13 U.S. service members.
Some Republicans criticized Harris on Monday for not mentioning the names of the 13 U.S. service members killed in the Kabul airport suicide bombing three years ago, in addition to her "last person in the room remarks."
On Monday morning, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., wrote that the day in Afghanistan was the deadliest for Americans in over a decade and neither Biden nor Harris have mentioned the names of the fallen soldiers.
The Trump campaign released a video on Monday's anniversary highlighting all the Gold Star families who lost loved ones from the Kabul airport bombing. "Kamala Harris has never mentioned these fallen soldiers' names," the video is captioned.
The Harris campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
