Democrat in key Senate race skipped DNC convention with disputed excuse, despite 'Missing' signs
Some critics argue that Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown avoided the convention in order to dissociate himself from Vice President Harris' policies.
Sen. Sherrod Brown is being mocked by 'missing person' posters around the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where he is one of three Democrats to skip the event, sparking criticism of his political move.
"The Ohio Republican Party posted on X this week that they were concerned about a friend who was supposed to be in Chicago with his friends but had not been seen. To locate him, they sent a rescue team to post "Missing" posters."
The "radical Sherrod Brown" is "missing" and was "last seen: cutting your retirement benefits, hiding from Kamala Harris's radical record, opening the southern border, destroying Ohio manufacturing jobs," as shown in photos posted by social media users.
""Sherrod has a tendency to play make believe, even though he consistently votes with Kamala Harris 99% of the time," the poster warns."
"I often skip conventions," said Brown, like Sens. Tester, Heinrich, and Rosen who also skipped the convention.
"I may attend conventions occasionally, but I don't have a specific plan to go."
Since being elected to Congress in 1994, Brown has not missed a DNC.
Critics have criticized Brown for his explanation of not attending the United Center in Chicago this week.
"Sherrod Brown consistently votes with the Biden-Harris administration almost 100%, according to Reagan McCarthy, spokesperson for Brown's GOP opponent Bernie Moreno, who told Planet Chronicle Digital. Despite skipping the convention, Brown cannot evade the most radical presidential ticket in history."
"Sherrod Brown may attempt to deceive his constituents and conceal his voting history, but he cannot conceal the fact that he consistently supports the toxic Harris-Biden agenda, which includes opening the southern border and causing inflation to soar. As a seasoned politician who has spent half a century in politics, pushing the Democrat agenda, Brown is not fooling anyone."
Mehek Cooke, CEO of American Frontier Strategies and an Ohio political consultant, described Brown as a "coward" in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital.
"Joe Biden has been in Washington for the same number of years as Sherrod Brown, according to Cooke. If he doesn't appear at the DNC, it suggests he's hiding something about his record."
A Brown campaign spokesperson stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that Sherrod is currently meeting with Ohioans throughout the state to discuss his record of fighting for Ohio, while Bernie Moreno's record of looking out for himself is highlighted, including his refusal to pay his employees overtime, shredding evidence to avoid payment, and opposing a strong bipartisan border security deal.
This week, the Brown campaign held events in Cleveland with Haircare Professionals for Sherrod and in Niles, Ohio, with labor union members.
Approximately 50 posters are located around the United Center, according to the Ohio GOP.
"The Ohio GOP stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that they wanted to assist Sherrod's liberal friends in locating him since he had not yet arrived at the United Center. They were confident that Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Joe Biden were concerned about his absence from celebrating their achievements together."
"Despite Sherrod's absence from the Democratic National Convention, their dangerously liberal platform remains intact due to his support of crushing inflation, historic illegal immigration crisis, and rising crime."
The Cook Political Report has ranked the Ohio Senate race between Brown and Moreno as a "toss up," making it one of the most closely watched races in the country.
