Campaign adviser says Kamala Harris owes responses to the American public on dodging the media.
Rick Wilson stated that the Harris campaign has no need to conduct interviews at the moment.
An adviser from the Harris campaign admitted on Sunday that the Vice President needs to provide answers to the public regarding her change in stance on policies such as fracking. The adviser also stated that Harris will conduct an interview before the end of the month.
On Sunday, Quentin Fulks, Harris' deputy campaign manager, appeared on Planet Chronicle's "Media Buzz" with Howie Kurtz and discussed Harris' first formal interview since becoming the Democratic Party's nominee for president. During the discussion, Kurtz questioned Fulks about whether Harris needed to clarify to voters why she had shifted her stance on certain issues, such as fracking and healthcare, from her previously progressive positions during her 2020 presidential campaign.
"Fulks stated that he believes the vice president should respond to the American people regarding her views on fracking and health care, as he accused former President Trump of spreading misinformation about these topics. He emphasized that the vice president will not be concerned with explaining her positions to Trump or his supporters."
Since becoming the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party over a month ago, Harris has been criticized for not conducting interviews or holding press conferences. Additionally, the Harris-Walz campaign's website lacks information about their policy views, and the recent policy platform unveiled by the Democratic National Convention (DNC) cited President Biden's policies more than Harris' own.
The Harris campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for more information about the vice president's upcoming interview.
On Sunday, Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton stated on ABC News that Harris owes the American public an explanation regarding the change in her policy positions on various issues.
Cotton stated that the only way for the American people to determine what the president will be like is by examining her actions and words during her time in the current administration and her campaign.
Some of Harris' supporters believe she should continue avoiding the media.
Rick Wilson, a former GOP strategist and co-founder of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, stated last week that Harris has no obligation to conduct interviews at the moment.
Wilson advised that they should continue holding massive, enthusiastic rallies that are bringing people into the Democratic fold again and exciting voters, as this is currently working.
Quentin Tarantino, a legendary Hollywood director, shared the same opinion with Bill Maher, stating that "sometimes it's just about winning."
"Tarantino told Maher that she wouldn't stop stumbling and there was nothing wrong with it. He also stated that he would vote for her regardless of what she said in a stupid interview. Therefore, he urged Maher not to mess things up."
Last week, the DNC delegates had similar, though less confrontational, opinions about Harris' lack of media presence.
""I believe we should be patient as it will all come in due time," Heather Pirowski, an Indiana delegate, stated last week."
"Our primary focus is currently on unifying the party," another stated. "After that, I believe she will address the American people."
I don't understand why Harris is being criticized for not going in front of the media," said a delegate from Texas at the convention last week. "I mean, when they resort to tactics like name-calling and vitriol, it's like we're back to 2016 when that's all he did against Hillary.
