Biden-Harris's $7.3B 'clean energy' spending plan criticized by energy groups before battleground visit.
Environmental researcher states that rural Americans prioritize affordable energy, with fossil fuels being their top priority.
The Biden-Harris administration's $7.3 billion "rural electrification" funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was criticized by energy groups before President Biden's announcement in Wisconsin.
John Droz Jr., founder of Wise Energy Decisions Alliance, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital on Thursday that the topic being discussed has nothing to do with science and the energy sources being promoted are not scientifically sound.
"According to him, a proper energy source should have three elements: reliability, economics, and environmental impact. However, he stated that people generally do not consider these factors when making decisions. Instead, decisions are made based on what is politically correct, as determined by President Biden and others."
The Inflation Reduction Act, backed by the Democrats, has allocated a billion dollars for the "rural electrification" initiative, which involves constructing wind turbines, marking the largest investment Biden has made in this effort since the Green New Deal.
The Biden-Harris administration claims that it will support 16 rural electric cooperatives across 23 states to provide affordable electricity to about 5 million rural households, enhance grid reliability, lower energy costs, and create thousands of jobs, while cutting greenhouse gas emissions, according to a White House fact sheet.
Biden's announcement of the program was not merely coincidental, according to Daniel Turner, founder of Power the Future.
"Sixteen days before the election, a significant announcement was made regarding seven and a half billion dollars for a crucial swing state. However, Turner expressed his frustration to Planet Chronicle Digital, stating that he is tired of hearing about these investments lowering costs, as utility bills have increased by 30% since the Biden administration took office. Despite the administration's continued investment in wind and solar, prices have not decreased, and evidence of this can be seen globally."
"Government cooperation is what the energy industry needs, not money. In fact, the industry has been able to operate without government funding."
The Biden-Harris administration has been prioritizing natural resources over fossil fuels and traditional sources of energy through its environmental policies. In June, the White House introduced new rules aimed at supporting clean energy companies, with the argument that such investments will benefit communities that have been in the energy sector since before the green movement.
"Instead of imposing unwanted energy sources on rural Americans, the administration should remove barriers to the energy sources they prefer, which are affordable fossil fuels first and foremost, according to Ben Lieberman, an environmental policy researcher at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He believes that rural Americans do not have a strong desire for wind, solar, and geothermal energy, and that the administration should focus on removing regulatory and permitting burdens rather than throwing tax dollars around."
In the year since the IRA was enacted, over 40 energy organizations and institutions called on Congress to abolish provisions in the law that they claimed were similar to the Green New Deal and favored China over the US.
"The Inflation Reduction Act was passed without any votes from Republicans, and it cost Joe Manchin his career. The administration later admitted that it was not about inflation, but about green spending. Turner, who led the letter to Congress last year, stated that this is a perfect example of how politicians use misleading language to appeal to public concerns."
A senior White House official stated on a press call prior to Biden's announcement that the investment in rural electrification is the largest since the FDR administration, and it will stimulate economic growth and reduce expenses for numerous Americans.
The official stated that the project will result in 4,500 permanent jobs and 16,000 construction jobs. He will receive feedback from the community on how these and other initiatives from his plan are improving their lives positively.
