Biden campaign reboots, focuses on battling Harris in crucial swing states.
The campaign alleges that Harris endorses "genocide" in Gaza.
The Biden campaign is intensifying its efforts against Vice President Kamala Harris in key swing states.
The campaign announced that it is intensifying its efforts in crucial swing states to mobilize Muslim-Americans and their supporters against the Harris-Walz ticket.
The Abandon Harris campaign stated in a release that this action is a direct response to Kamala Harris' support for the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The movement, which originated in Dearborn, Michigan, initially focused on President Biden's re-election campaign, asserting that his continued support for Israel necessitated the community's message to the Democratic Party.
During the Michigan primary earlier this year, over 100,000 voters cast uncommitted ballots, including those who participated in the "Vote Uncommitted" movement in Dearborn.
Despite Biden's decision to drop out of the race in July and Harris's subsequent elevation to the top of the ticket, tensions between Harris and the campaign's leaders have persisted as the vice president has not fully committed to their demands.
"The campaign stated in a release that they are not interested in superficial statements, meaningless words, or shallow calls for peace while the Biden-Harris administration continues to provide weapons to Israel, resulting in the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians in Gaza and contributing to a broader regional conflict. The campaign emphasized that words without concrete action are meaningless, and their continued support for these atrocities will not be tolerated."
In the primary season, the group successfully expanded its reach from Michigan to Wisconsin, two crucial swing states in the upcoming election. These states have been decided by narrow margins in the past two presidential elections, and the absence of support from a traditionally Democratic-leaning demographic could be a decisive factor in their outcome.
In Michigan and Wisconsin, Harris has a slight lead over Biden, with a 1.1 point advantage in Michigan and a 1.4 point advantage in Wisconsin, as of Sunday, according to the Real Clear Politics Polling average.
The campaign has also aimed to extend its reach to other swing states, having achieved success by shifting its focus to states like Minnesota during the primary season.
The group did not support the campaign of former President Donald Trump but encouraged supporters to vote in the 2024 election and to reject any party that supports or participates in genocide.
We have not yet endorsed any third-party candidate, and if we do, we will make an announcement.
""We remain firm and steadfast in our convictions and our mission to ensure that the party currently supporting, funding and enabling the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza is defeated at the polls. Abandon Biden, now Abandon Harris," the release continued."
After Biden dropped out of the race, Abandon Harris extended an olive branch to Kamala Harris and expressed its openness to dialogue, as stated by a spokesperson for Abandon Harris who was reached by Planet Chronicle Digital.
On August 19, we launched Abandon Harris after a month of waiting during which she had a disastrous rally in Michigan where she inadvertently revealed her stance on those protesting the genocide in Gaza.
The spokesperson stated that the organization believes it is impossible for Harris to regain their support, but emphasized that they do not advocate for voting for Trump.
"The spokesperson stated that they remember Trump's decision to relocate the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and his stance during the Gaza Great March of Return. Additionally, they have repeatedly advised voters not to support either the Democratic or Republican parties, while also emphasizing that abstaining from voting is not a viable option."
The Harris campaign declined to comment on a Planet Chronicle Digital request.
