Amid ongoing backlash against his pro-Israel stance, Fetterman's top communications staffers resign.
In the aftermath of the Oct. 7 massacre, Fetterman has become one of Israel's strongest supporters in the Senate.
In a month, three top communication staffers from Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman's office departed for other left-leaning offices.
The Pennsylvania Democrat has been the subject of headlines due to his unique views on Israel and immigration, which distinguish him from his fellow Democrat party members.
Earlier this month, the City of Chicago announced that Joe Calvello, who previously worked as Fetterman's Director of Communications in both his Senate office and on his 2022 campaign, would be joining as Chief Strategy Officer in Chicago Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson's office.
Calvello stated that it was an absolute honor and privilege to serve the people of Chicago.
On Friday, it was announced that Nicholas Gavio, Deputy Communication Director of Fetterman, would be joining the Working Families Party as Mid-Atlantic Communications Director.
Gavio worked on Fetterman's 2022 campaign and in Sen. Bernie Sanders' I-Vt. office.
The Working Families Party is a left-leaning political party that advocates for raising the minimum wage, taxing the wealthy, and promoting environmental and educational reform. Notable Democrats, such as "Squad" member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have previously been associated with the party.
Emma Mustion, who worked on Fetterman's 2022 Senate campaign, also joined Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey's campaign office as a press secretary earlier this month.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out for additional comment.
Recently, Fetterman has been taking a different approach, telling Planet Chronicle that he does not consider himself a "progressive" and criticizing Vice President Harris for her statement that it would be a "huge mistake" for Israel to carry out an offensive without U.S. approval.
"Fetterman wrote in response on X, "I strongly disagree with Israel's right to prosecute Hamas for surrendering or elimination. Hamas is responsible for every innocent death due to their cowardice in hiding behind Palestinian lives.""
In the aftermath of the Oct. 7 massacre, Fetterman has become one of Israel's strongest supporters in the Senate, diverging from other Democrats in Congress.
In October, following the massacre, Calvello shared an office-wide email on X about the office's social media sharing policies that did not align with Fetterman's views.
"If you want to remain anonymous and not identify as a Fetterman staffer in any way, that is acceptable. However, you cannot use your position as a current Fetterman staffer to undermine John's position or make a public statement that contradicts John's views."
The email emphasized the importance of "working together as a team" in the office after the outbreak of war in Israel and Gaza.
In January, when speaking to CNN's Jake Tapper, Fetterman defended his pro-Israel stance, stating, "I don't comprehend why it's contentious to anyone to choose to support Israel in this scenario."
