President-elect Trump announced Dean John Sauer as his pick for U.S. solicitor general.
Trump announced on Tuesday evening that John is a highly skilled and experienced appellate attorney who previously clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia in the U.S. Supreme Court, served as Solicitor General of Missouri for six years, and has extensive experience practicing before the U.S. Supreme Court and other Appellate Courts.
From 2017 to 2023, Sauer served as solicitor general of Missouri and successfully represented Trump in his appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court in Trump v. United States.
Trump stated that John was the lead counsel representing him in the Supreme Court in Trump v. United States, where they won a historic victory on presidential immunity, which was crucial in defeating the unconstitutional campaign of Lawfare against him and the entire MAGA Movement.
Sauer is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School and has degrees from Duke University, Oxford University, and is a Rhodes Scholar.
Trump stated that John would be an excellent champion for us as we "Make America Great Again."
