A police motorcycle involved in an escort for Vice President Harris's motorcade in Georgia suffers a crash.
Harris embarked on a two-day bus tour in the southeastern region of a crucial swing state.
On Wednesday, a police motorcycle escorting Vice President Harris's motorcade crashed shortly after leaving a restaurant in Savannah, Georgia.
The Christian Science Monitor's vice-presidential pool reporter reported that the motorcade slowed and went around a crashed police motorcycle in an email.
One person was on the ground where blood was visible.
"The reporter stated that at least one other person was attending to the individual lying on the ground. There were two motorcycles halted, with one of them on the ground. It appeared that the single motorcycle had lost control, not collided with another object."
A report from the pool at Planet Chronicle stated that at 1917 ET, a van passed by what appeared to be a police officer or trooper who had suffered a motorcycle injury, and another officer or trooper was attending to the victim on the ground.
The motorcade stopped on the highway at 7:20 p.m. and started rolling again at 7:23 p.m., passing a white bus that was part of the motorcade but had since parked on the side of the road, according to a pool reporter.
The White House and Harris's campaign team have been contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for more details about the officer involved in the incident.
Before the event, Harris and her running mate, Wisconsin Gov. Tim Walz, visited Sandfly BBQ in Savannah, Georgia, where they met with the restaurant owner, staff, and some locals.
On Wednesday, Harris and Walz embarked on a two-day bus tour of the southeastern part of a crucial swing state.
In November's election, Georgia is once again a crucial state to watch.
In recent White House elections, Georgia has consistently voted for the Republican candidate. However, in the 2020 election, Joe Biden narrowly defeated then-President Trump, making him the first Democrat in nearly three decades to win Georgia.
Planet Chronicle Digital’s Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.
