A Minnesotan leaves the state for 'right to work' after their business shut down due to Walz's COVID-19 restrictions.
A Minnesota business owner believes Harris committed a significant error by selecting her vice presidential running mate.
A Minnesota resident travels two hours daily beyond the state border "to have the opportunity to work," citing Gov. Tim Walz's policies as the reason for the closure of her two businesses during the pandemic.
Lisa Zarza, a lifelong Minnesotan who has spent 32 years in the bar and restaurant industry, revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that she runs her current business, Outpost Bar and Grill, in Wisconsin due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed by Governor Walz.
"Zarza stated that she has to travel two hours daily to work as an American citizen, and she does so on her Harley-Davidson motorcycle for the two-hour round-trip commute. Initially, she found the journey challenging, feeling overwhelmed with emotions such as unfairness every time she crossed the border."
In 2020, Zarza, the owner of Alibi Bar and Drinkery in Lakeville and Alibi at Froggy Bottoms in Wisconsin, disobeyed Walz's order to close bars and restaurants in the state as part of an attempt to control the spread of COVID-19 and kept her business open for two weeks.
The state suspended her food service license and sued her after she refused to close her business, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in attorneys' fees.
"On Jan. 10, all bars and restaurants were allowed to reopen. However, the state of Minnesota refused to issue my food service license, and I operated illegally without one, even though I had never violated any food service code. They threatened to arrest or jail me if I did not close, and eventually, I did so in the beginning of April."
""As soon as I cross the border, I feel liberated and can work in Wisconsin," she stated."
Zarza faced no obstacles in obtaining licenses when she decided to open her business in Wisconsin, where she had been working for two and a half years.
When Zarza learned that Vice President Kamala Harris had chosen Walz as her running mate, she drove home from work in tears, worried about the future of the country.
"This isn't what Minnesota stands for. This isn't the kind of leader we want in the White House. He's not the embodiment of what it means to be a patriot," she stated. "I believe Harris made a grave error when she chose her running mate."
