Whoopi Goldberg defends Biden, chides co-host for labeling him a liar: "He has the right to act as he pleases"
Griffin was told by Goldberg that he would cease referring to it as a falsehood.
On Monday, Alyssa Farah Griffin was reprimanded by co-host Whoopi Goldberg on "The View" for asserting that President Biden had lied about his plans to pardon his son Hunter Biden.
Griffin expressed his disagreement with lying about pardoning Trump. He wanted to ask Biden about it during his appearance on "The View," but believed that Biden had already stated his position too many times, which amounted to lying to the public. Griffin felt sorry for Karine Jean-Pierre, who had to convey Biden's decision not to pardon Trump. This lack of trust in Washington and politicians stems from such actions, and although many people admire Biden, Griffin found the situation disappointing and detrimental to our institutions.
"I understand why he would do it, but I wanted to understand why he lied about it for so long?" Goldberg interjected, "I would stop calling it a lie."
On Sunday, Biden declared that he would be granting a pardon to his son, even though he had previously stated multiple times that he would not do so.
Griffin replied, "Why do you repeatedly claim you won't do something and then do it? The half of the country that doesn't support Biden is excluded from phone calls and sees a system that benefits only those in power. What message does this send?"
Goldberg remarked on President-elect Trump's victory, stating, "We elected someone who faced a similar situation but didn't have a drug problem, knew what they were doing, and confidently declared, 'I can do this,' and succeeded."
Trump won, so Goldberg believes the president may have initially not intended to pardon Hunter but later changed his mind.
She said, "I think he said, 'Well, why am I expending so much effort to remain upright and perform this task when no one else is?'"
Griffin said she wished the president would have been honest with the public.
Goldberg stated, "As the sitting president, he has the power to do anything he desires until his term ends."
"On Sunday, Biden announced that he had signed a pardon for his son Hunter. Despite his promise not to interfere with the Justice Department's decision-making, he had watched his son being unfairly prosecuted."
The president said that Hunter was "treated differently" by prosecutors.
The hosts of "The View" frequently urged Biden to grant clemency to his son, referencing Trump's election win.
Sunny Hostin co-hosted and stated that Hunter Biden was indicted solely due to his last name.
