On Wednesday, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde appeared on "The View" to discuss her "mercy" plea to President Donald Trump at a prayer service this week, stating that her message could not be separated from politics.

Did Sara Haines believe her message was being "misinterpreted" or "politicized"?

Budde stated, "Given the hyper-political climate we're in, it's not surprising that what I said would be politicized. I caution against the culture of contempt that immediately interprets what people say as the worst possible scenario and categorizes them as you described."

Budde requested the president to show "compassion" towards the LGBT community and immigrants during the prayer service on Tuesday. Trump and Vice President JD Vance, along with their spouses, remained expressionless as Budde spoke.

Budde stated that the topic he was addressing was now part of the air we breathe, and he aimed to convey a truth that he believed needed to be expressed, while doing so in a respectful and compassionate manner. Additionally, he sought to include voices that had been absent from the public discourse for some time.

Did Alyssa Farah Griffin ask Budde if her sentiment would have had more impact in a one-on-one setting with Trump and if she had that opportunity?

"Budde stated that he has never been invited for a one-on-one conversation with President Trump, but he would welcome the opportunity. He acknowledged that he has no idea how the conversation would go, but he would be respectful to the president and everyone listening. He emphasized that the invitation would have to come from the president himself."

Trump calls on 'radical left' bishop to apologize after National Prayer Service lecture

Budde's comments drew considerable attention given the venue.

"On Tuesday, she made a final plea to Mr. President, asking for mercy on the scared people in their country, including gay, lesbian, and transgender children from Democratic, Republican, and independent families who fear for their lives."

"Immigrants are not criminals, they pay taxes and are good neighbors," she added.

Afterward, Trump told reporters he didn't care for the service.

Trump also sharply criticized Budde in a post on Truth Social.

The Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way, as he wrote.
