Whoopi Goldberg and Charlamagne Tha God debate Biden's decision to pardon Hunter Biden: "Is it just a change of heart?"
Goldberg instructed, "I'm going to stop you for a second because you don't know it was a lie."
On Wednesday, during "The View," radio host Charlamagne Tha God disagreed with Whoopi Goldberg about President Biden's decision to pardon his son before leaving the White House.
"Charlamagne believes that all criticism against Biden for breaking a promise is valid. Democrats often claim a moral high ground and act self-righteous, but the truth is that Biden didn't have to make a statement about his son's desire for a pardon."
He continued, "He could have responded, 'I'm not focused on that at the moment.' However, since they were accusing Trump of being a threat to democracy and claiming that no one is above the law, but they were discussing him, that was their main campaign message. Therefore, when he kept repeating phrases like 'No one is above the law, I respect the jury's decision, regarding my son,' he didn't believe it. Nevertheless, he didn't need to volunteer that false statement."
On Sunday, Biden granted a pardon to his son, sparking criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. The co-hosts of "The View," including Goldberg, defended the president, arguing that he has the right to make any decisions he wants as president and that he did not lie.
Goldberg said, "I'll pause for a moment because you're unaware that it was a falsehood."
Did you really believe that he made a sudden change of mind over the Thanksgiving weekend, Charlamagne inquired of the co-host?
""Because he grew tired of observing others succeed, he may have altered his stance," Goldberg retorted. "At some point, Democrats are expected to adhere strictly to the path, so they do," she added."
Charlamagne countered and stated, "It's their responsibility," because they positioned themselves as moral authorities by frequently asserting that no one is beyond the law. Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that Democrats campaigned on the notion of upholding institutions.
Biden stated that the Justice Department investigation was a political pursuit, implying that his own government was politicized.
On Tuesday, Goldberg criticized Democrats for attacking Biden and stated it was a significant issue.
Charlamagne inquired, "Why can't Democrats and Republicans both admit when they are incorrect?"
Goldberg stated that she would inform him when she believed Democrats were making a mistake, and when he asked if she thought Joe Biden was wrong, she and co-host Sunny Hostin both agreed that the president's actions were not incorrect.
"You're ridiculous," Charlamagne said before adding, "that's ridiculous."
Before the situation escalated further, the two commentators embraced and Charlamagne stated that neither party had the upper hand morally.
