VP Harris criticized for stumbling over the first line of the Pledge of Allegiance: "What a shame"

On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism from social media users for seemingly mispronouncing the words to the Pledge of Allegiance in the U.S. Senate.
During the swearing in of the senators of the 119th Congress, Harris made a mistake while reciting the pledge and mistakenly said, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America."
As she spoke into the microphone, she said, "I pledge allegiance to the United States," but then seemed to realize her mistake and continued, "… the United States of America."
Her gaffe went viral on social media, with many users making fun of her.

"Wow, Kamala made a mistake while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in the Senate. This is a disgrace to our country," tweeted Johnny Maga, a prominent pro-Trump account.

Mike Engleman, a well-known conservative poster, made a comment about Kamala Harris's Pledge of Allegiance gaffe, saying, "Kamala Harris made word salad with the Pledge of Allegiance, lol" in reference to her characteristic rhetorical mistakes during her vice presidency.
During the swearing-in ceremony for new senators, Kamala Harris appeared to forget the Pledge of Allegiance. This woman is a heartbeat away from being the president.
Terrence K. Williams, a conservative commentator and comedian, stated that Kamala Harris does not know the Pledge of Allegiance. Despite her desire to become President, it is disheartening that the Vice President lacks knowledge of this fundamental American tradition.
Kamala made a mistake while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and thankfully, Trump won the election.
