Trump's Win: Guests on CNN Clash over Culture War Ads and Transphobia
Jay Michaelson, author, lectured CNN commentator Shermichael Singleton: "I will interrupt when you use a slur."
Shermichael Singleton and Jay Michaelson had a heated debate on CNN about the significance of culture war issues in determining President-elect Trump's election victory. The discussion centered on the reasons behind Kamala Harris' defeat and the contentious ads that targeted biological boys in women's sports.
Singleton opened a debate on the inclusion of transgender athletes in sports, stating that he believes there are many families who do not believe boys should participate in girls' sports.
"Michaelson responded to Singleton's comment by stating, "Those individuals are not boys, and I will not tolerate transphobia at this table.""
"If you use a derogatory term, I will interrupt!" Michaelson stated. "These individuals are not boys playing girls' softball, and I refuse to listen to such nonsense."
"Let's pause for a moment because this issue is highly divisive. Shermichael, I know you understand that people have varying perspectives on this. Out of consideration for Jay, let's strive to discuss this topic in a respectful manner."
Singleton was not being transphobic, as CNN anchor Abby Phillip informed him.
Singleton stated that the Trump campaign commercials featuring Harris supporting gender affirming care for trans people in prison were highly effective. However, he pointed out that regular people with children who viewed these ads felt uncomfortable with the message and believed that Democrats had gone too far on social issues. Despite differing opinions, Singleton explained that Republicans kept running the ads repeatedly to emphasize their stance.
"Michaelson stated that it is not typical individuals who are involved in this issue. There is no agreement on whether these individuals are actually boys. The concept of trans girls is a misconception. We are discussing a minute fraction of the population."
Riley Gaines, a former NCAA swimmer and OutKick contributor, has spoken out against women's sports, including biological men.
During her college swimming career, Gaines consistently shared a locker room with a transgender competitor.
