Trump's visit to Arlington and Afghanistan withdrawal criticized by Republicans as 'despicable' media coverage.
The Afghanistan withdrawal is a 'black eye' for the Biden administration, according to Sen. Markwayne Mullin.
On Tuesday, Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., criticized the left-wing media for their coverage of former President Trump's visit to Arlington National Cemetery and the Biden administration's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal.
On "Fox & Friends," Mullin stated that he was "intimately involved" in getting Americans out of Afghanistan and that Trump has been "nothing but supportive" since the beginning.
The Biden administration wants to avoid any association with the incident and will take measures to divert attention away from it. However, the left-wing media continues to cover it and instead of praising President Trump for his actions, they are making a big fuss about it and staging a show to criticize it as disrespectful.
On Monday, the national cemetery in Virginia hosted a wreath-laying ceremony for the 13 service members who were killed in the terrorist attack at Abbey Gate near Kabul's airport on August 26, 2021.
Mullin argued that it is not disrespectful to pay tribute to fallen soldiers or to remember the sacrifices made by thousands of Americans in Afghanistan.
Despite making attempts to contact the Biden-Harris administration, the families of the 13 service members have not received any response. They have also defended Trump's attendance.
"It is despicable and disgusting that our president and vice president refuse to acknowledge the consequences of their disastrous withdrawal, which has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and continues to do so today," Mullin stated.
On "Meet the Press" on Sunday, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., criticized President Biden and Harris for disregarding the families of fallen soldiers.
During the exchange, it was reported by NBC's Kristen Welker that Vice President Kamala Harris was present at the solemn ceremony for the transfer of U.S. troops who perished during the Afghanistan withdrawal.
NBC posted a correction on the show's X account after the show.
"This morning on our broadcast, we mistakenly stated that both President Biden and Vice President Harris were present during the solemn transfer of 13 American soldiers who perished during the Afghanistan withdrawal," NBC announced on their "Meet the Press" Twitter account.
"Harris was absent while Biden was present," the statement continued.
