Trump's Treasury nominee outlines economic growth plan: Brace yourself for a prosperous era.
Trump's Treasury Secretary picks are revealed to be Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick.
Scott Bessent, CEO and founder of Key Square Capital Management, who gained recognition on Wall Street working for billionaire Democrat donor George Soros, is now prepared to assist President-elect Donald Trump in leading the U.S. economy towards a prosperous future.
"Bessent stated on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday that people often inquire about what advice she gives to President Trump, but she doesn't need to provide any recommendations since he has already achieved success. She added that the economy thrived under Trump 1.0."
"He believed that under Donald Trump, we could experience a golden age for the next four years."
John Paulson, a billionaire investor, announced on Tuesday that he would no longer be in the running for Trump's Treasury secretary nomination, leaving the spotlight on Bessent and Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald and transition co-chair.
Lutnick and his allies are pushing for him to be chosen, with Lutnick reportedly expressing his interest to Trump directly, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Bessent stated on Thursday that "it's all President Trump's decision. He made great decisions on the campaign," and he expressed his desire to collaborate with the 47th president in promoting manufacturing, energy dominance, and technological advancements.
"The coalition that Donald Trump assembled led to the greatest political comeback in history, resulting in both peace and a technology boom," Bessent stated.
"Only Donald Trump, the richest person in the world, could have brought together working-class Americans and Elon Musk."
Bessent, during the campaign cycle, was a significant financial supporter of Trump, donating an estimated $3 million, and advocated for tax reform and deregulation to increase bank lending and domestic energy production.
The patriarch of Key Square Capital manages nearly $600 million in assets through his hedge fund. He is a South Carolina native and a 1984 graduate of Yale University. From 1991 to 2000, he worked for the Soros Fund and rose to become the firm's head of European allocation before leaving.
From 2011 to 2015, he served as the chief investment officer of Soros' fund before leaving to run Key Capital Square with a $2 billion investment from Soros.
"He grew up in a fishing village in South Carolina, where his family faced economic hardship. He began working at the age of nine and had to hold three jobs to afford college at Yale."
"Bessent reflected on how she came to Wall Street with only the knowledge that something bad happened in 1929. Despite this, she had a successful career. Now, she believes that the opportunity to give back to the country would be incredible."
"As your colleague upstairs, Maria Bartiromo stated that Donald Trump is the most sophisticated leader in economics we've ever encountered. Bessent added, "Maria and I have met many leaders, and I can attest to his expertise.""
