Trump's transition to power was the most violent in US history, according to Joy Reid.
'It is not possible to transfer power peacefully to an insurrectionist who took four additional years to complete their task.'
On Monday, Joy Reid of MSNBC stated that the transition of power from the Trump administration to the new administration following the 2024 election was a violent one and the most violent in U.S. history.
"You can't peacefully transfer power to an insurrectionist just because it took them four more years to complete their task," she stated on "The ReidOut."
Reid stated that while playing a montage of clips from the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021, he emphasized that this date marked a significant event that should not be forgotten. He added that pretending that this is no longer what today means is an insult to every cop who was injured, every terrified congressional staffer and member, every Capitol worker who had to clean up the feces smeared on the wall, and to every decent notion anyone ever had about this country.
"She added that it's a lie that many Republicans and some in the media want to perpetuate, as it makes Republicans feel better and apparently their feelings are of utmost importance."
Reid claimed that Republicans and conservative media minimized the January 6 riots as a typical tourist event, but he emphasized that it was a significant event, an insurrection, and the first violent attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812.
Reid stated that Trump's second impeachment was for inciting an insurrection, and it is disgraceful to forget about it and quietly reinstall the chief insurrectionist without comment.
Reid claimed that both voters and U.S. Supreme Court justices were responsible for President-elect Donald Trump's return to the Oval Office.
"Today is not a day to celebrate. Although we did it because that's what some of you voted for or failed to vote and paved the way for, please have the decency and dignity to be a little embarrassed," she said.
Reid criticized voters and Supreme Court justices, stating that the low number of voters who found his actions disqualifying, the conservative justices' refusal to uphold the Constitution's insurrection clause, and Roberts' decision to clear the way for his reelection were all shameful.
