Trump's FCC nominee vows to combat 'censorship cartel' as top priority: "It's got to end"
Under Brendan Carr's leadership as incoming FCC Chairman, combating tech censorship will be a top priority.
The FCC Chairman, Brendan Carr, has made it clear that his top priority is to take down the "censorship cartel."
On Sunday, the Trump-appointed lead explained how the incoming administration's dedication to safeguarding free speech could manifest on social media and beyond.
Restoring Americans' right to free speech is a top priority for me in combating tech censorship, as I stated on "Sunday Morning Futures" to host Jackie DeAngelis.
"Facebook and other companies have collaborated with advertisers and government officials to censor the free speech rights of everyday Americans, and this censorship must end because censorship is not only about stopping work but also about stopping ideas."
"America is a nation of pioneers who have pushed boundaries and expanded frontiers. They have innovated, and when you stifle free speech, you stifle creativity. As a result, America's prosperity is unleashed once more. This is why there is a shift in the country's vibe, as people anticipate President Trump leading another great American comeback. The government's control is being lifted, and our economy will flourish again."
Critics have long accused Big Tech companies of suppressing free speech and exhibiting a liberal bias, notably when Twitter removed the Hunter Biden laptop story before Elon Musk's takeover and various platforms censored COVID-19 misinformation during the pandemic.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently confessed to censoring content on his platforms due to pressure from the Biden-Harris administration and expressed remorse for his actions.
Next month, Zuckerberg reportedly dined with President-elect Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
Stephen Miller, the incoming White House deputy chief of policy, announced on "The Ingraham Angle" last week.
"Clearly, he has his own interests, company, and agenda. However, he has stated that he supports the national renewal of America under President Trump's leadership."
Trump appointed Brendan Carr, a senior Republican member of the FCC, to lead the agency as part of his cabinet, labeling him as a "champion of free speech" who has "fought against regulatory overreach that has suppressed Americans' liberties and hindered economic growth."
