Trump promises to abolish "sanctuary cities," restore "normality" at "Faulkner Focus" town hall with female voters.
Trump addresses town hall on abortion, migrant crime, and women's economic concerns, hosted by Harris Faulkner.
During a Q&A session with female voters prior to Election Day, former President Donald Trump pledged to abolish sanctuary cities and restore "normality" while addressing concerns about the economy, crime, and abortion.
During a town hall meeting on "The Faulkner Focus," a woman whose son attends the University of Georgia questioned the university's stance on crime and public safety after the murder of nursing student Laken Riley earlier this year.
"The attendee shared with the former president that their son is a Georgia Bulldog and was on campus the day Laken Riley was murdered. They expressed how terrifying it was for the children, and asked how quickly in a sanctuary city, like Athens, Georgia, threats to society can be removed so that children can safely go out and run in parks during the daytime."
"We will relocate individuals from sanctuary cities. We will put an end to all sanctuary cities in the US and return to normalcy," he promised.
"And we're going to have law and order."
The economy is the largest motivator for Republican voters nationwide, with crime consistently ranking as a top issue.
A recent poll revealed that former President Trump holds a nine-point advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris in managing the economy, which is the top concern for voters heading into the 2024 presidential election.
According to a Gallup poll, 54% of Americans believe Trump is better equipped to handle the economy compared to 45% who prefer Harris. While the economy was the top concern for both Republicans and all Americans, it did not rank among the top five issues for Democrats.
He was questioned by one woman regarding the increasing expense of living for families and his plans for the child tax credit.
"One attendee shared with Trump that she is a single mom to two kids and her child tax credit has decreased by 80% in just three and a half years. Last year, she suffered a broken neck and applied for assistance but was denied because she did not make less than $700 a month. She asked for realistic changes to help parents, including single parents, married parents, and any kind of parent, afford children in today's world."
"Trump responded by stating that the tax cuts he implemented were the largest in the country's history, surpassing those under Reagan. He acknowledged the concerns raised and promised to adjust the cuts to ensure fairness for all. He added that they would be increasing the cuts but also making adjustments."
He stated that it was unfair to certain individuals, and they would not tolerate it.
Another woman, Pamela, who hails from California, questioned the former president about abortion, a contentious issue for many voters.
"Women have the right to make decisions about their bodies, including their unborn, and it is their responsibility regardless of the circumstances. Some decisions are necessary to save their lives," she stated. "What role does the government play in women's fundamental rights?"
"Trump stated that the issue has been a source of division in the country for 52 years. Legal scholars and lawyers, except for Democrats, Republicans, liberals, and conservatives, wanted it to be resolved through a vote of the people. Trump, like Ronald Reagan, supports exceptions for rape, incest, and the preservation of the mother's life."
"He emphasized the importance of following one's heart, stating that while some individuals may not do so, it is a small percentage. However, he acknowledged that there may be exceptions. He then explained how, through the bravery of six Supreme Court justices, they were able to achieve their goal after years of struggle."
Election Day is approaching, and besides democracy, education, and health care, abortion has emerged as a top concern for Democrats.
Trump maintains leads over Harris on immigration and foreign affairs, while Harris holds her own leads on health care, abortion, and climate change among Democrats.
