Trump claims that Melania believed the worst had occurred during the assassination attempt: "She's not allowed to discuss it."
Trump emphasized the importance of investigating the events on 'The Ingraham Angle'.
Earlier this month, in Butler, Pa., former first lady Melania Trump witnessed would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks open fire, as former President Trump revealed Monday.
In an exclusive interview with "The Ingraham Angle," Laura Ingraham inquired about Melania's response to the live television broadcast of the rally incident.
He said, "She can't really even talk about it, which is okay because that means she likes me or she loves me."
As I descended, she believed the worst had occurred because I fell, and I clutched my ear, discovering my hand was saturated with blood. The scene played out in slow motion, with an instant replay, he added later.
On July 13, 20-year-old Crooks attempted to assassinate the former president and current Republican nominee during a campaign rally. Trump and attendees were injured, and firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed while shielding his family from the gunfire.
Since the incident, security breakdowns have been scrutinized intensely by both parties, resulting in Congress questioning then-Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who eventually resigned from her position.
During his conversation with Ingraham, Trump emphasized the importance of investigating the circumstances surrounding Comperatore.
