Trump claims ignorance about the comedian who made a vulgar remark about Puerto Rico: 'I have no clue who he is'
Trump claims that comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made inappropriate remarks.
Tony Hinchcliffe, a comedian, sparked controversy at a rally in New York City's Madison Square Garden when he referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage."
"Trump stated in an interview with "Hannity" that he has no idea who the comedian is who joked about Puerto Rico. He never saw or heard of the comedian and does not want to hear of them. Trump believes that comedians are often thrown into the mix without proper vetting, and it is not anyone's fault. He also mentioned that someone said "bad things" about Puerto Rico."
Both Republican Florida Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, as well as Florida Reps. Carlos Gimenez and María Elvira Salazar, condemned and criticized Hinchcliffe.
Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the Puerto Rico joke does not represent the views of President Trump or the campaign.
Trump reiterated his lack of knowledge about Hinchcliffe during an interview with Sean Hannity on Planet Chronicle, stating, "They've taken someone who has no connection to our party or us and made a big fuss over what they said. I don't know who he is."
Trump stated that he is unaware of who placed him in office and believes it to be insignificant. He also asserted that he has accomplished more for Puerto Rico than any previous president.

The Harris-Walz campaign criticized Trump's administration for their "inadequate" preparation and response to Hurricane Maria in 2017, resulting in widespread devastation and thousands of deaths on the island.
The campaign's four-page plan for Puerto Rico stated that Trump did not acknowledge the extent of Puerto Ricans' suffering. Instead, he boasted about himself and lied about the death toll while most of Puerto Rico remained without clean water and electricity. Rather than providing meaningful aid to Puerto Ricans, he visited the island to toss paper towels at a crowd.
Don Omar, a renowned Puerto Rican rapper and singer with a massive social media following, declared his support for Harris on Tuesday.
My homeland and identity, Puerto Rico, is a source of pride for me. The use of racist and disdainful words towards my island and Latinos is heartbreaking. Trump's past actions and words towards us have shown what he thinks of us, and the thought of him and his administration back in power is deeply concerning.
The local Democratic party's precinct captain in Allentown, Pa., where there is a significant Puerto Rican population, stated that Hinchcliffe's remarks were rapidly spreading throughout the community.
