Trump believes he was the target of the greatest media psy-op in history, according to Rogan: "They've distorted who he is."
Rogan stated that what is being observed with Trump, despite his imperfections, is a large-scale coordinated psychological operation.
President-elect Donald Trump's once-friendly relationship with the establishment media has turned sour, with the media engaging in a "psy-op" to portray him as dangerous for years.
Rogan's "The Joe Rogan Experience" is a globally renowned podcast, and he is widely regarded as having played a significant role in the 2024 election by interviewing Trump and subsequently endorsing his presidential bid. Since then, Rogan has criticized the media for losing the trust of voters and driving away liberals like himself.
In the episode on Thursday, Rogan discussed how friendly people in entertainment and the media were to Trump during his 2012 appearance on "The View" and his 2016 interview with Oprah, where he was cheered and asked about running for president.
The View" has become a go-to source for apocalyptic views on Trump, and Oprah criticized him during her campaign with Vice President Kamala Harris. Rogan believes that the sudden change in tone towards Trump was a shocking media psy-op, stating, "What we witnessed was the greatest media manipulation in history.
The podcast host continued to hammer legacy media.
"Rogan stated that Trump's flaws are irrelevant, and what is being seen is a massive psy-op. The media has distorted Trump's image so much that most people believe the narrative they've created."
Normand inquired, "What is a psy-op? I've been hearing about it."
"Rogan explained that psychological operation involves distorting people's perceptions of things."
Shaffir stated that older liberals are surprised to learn that Obama deported more people than Trump. He replied, "They say, 'That doesn't make sense.' And you say, 'Focus on what's giving you the reality of the world.'"
Rogan requested that his producer, Jamie, display a "wild" quote from Hillary Clinton in 2008 where she made "MAGA-type" comments about "illegal immigrants."
In the recording, Clinton stated, "We must have strict conditions. Encourage people to come forward. If they've committed a crime, expel them without hesitation."
"She’s a Republican," Shaffir joked.
In the recording, Clinton stated, "If they have been working and are law-abiding, we should inform them of the conditions for staying. They must pay a hefty fine for entering the country illegally, repay taxes, attempt to learn English, and wait in line."
The guests expressed their shock at Clinton’s past comments.
"Rogan said, 'You have to wait in line, and everybody's cheering,' in 2008. However, he pointed out that both Hillary Clinton and Trump were more MAGA than each other. He added, 'It's all a f---ing illusion. It's all a f---ing illusion. All of them, when convenient, have said the exact same things.'"
Rogan argued that this election shows that the tide has turned, however.
Rogan argued that for the first time during this election, the media was no longer under their control.
Podcasts, social media, and X have contributed to the rise of the podcasting industry.
