TikToker who went viral after clashing with Don Lemon admits he was unsure of his identity initially.
William John, CEO of Goluremi, criticized the ex-CNN host as evidence of the shortcomings of mainstream media.
William John, a TikToker and CEO of Goluremi, confessed that he was not familiar with ex-CNN host Don Lemon prior to their viral video.
"John admitted to Planet Chronicle Digital that he was initially unfamiliar with the individual's identity. "He's one of those people who has been on the news for a long time, almost 15 years or so," John said. "My videographer pointed him out, and I recognized the face, but I didn't know the name.""
Last month, the former pro-soccer player encountered Lemon while both were conducting street interviews for their respective channels. In the video, Lemon requested that John provide his thoughts on the media and politicians accusing Elon Musk of being the true shadow president.
Lemon stated that democratic lawmakers in Washington have started referring to Elon Musk as "President Musk," while Donald Trump is being referred to as the "vice president" or "head of communication."
"No, that's not what I said," John replied.
Lemon interrupted, "Really? Have you not paid attention—"
"John stated that he was not at all, focusing on his daily activities to improve his life and advance. He later referred to it as a "loaded question.""
John characterized Lemon's citation of mainstream media outlets like ABC News and the Washington Post as "absurd."
"John stated that he doesn't watch mainstream media and believes it represents the issue Americans are facing with the mainstream. He added that independent media is gaining importance as people are disconnected and feel lied to."
John, despite criticizing Lemon's behavior, shared his concerns about the amount of influence Musk has on President-elect Donald Trump.
John stated that it is difficult to assert that the wealthiest individual in the world does not exert influence on things. It would be highly naive to believe otherwise. While the extent and nature of that influence are challenging to determine from the outside, it is clear that it exists.
He believed it was a "gorgeous phenomenon" that individuals worldwide were "awakening" to the mainstream media being "ensnared in these deceptions," with the typical audience "feeling we deserve superior treatment."
"John stated that the shift has already occurred, and he believes that the issue is that when he mentions these sources such as Axios, Business Insider, and ABC News, they no longer hold the same weight as they did in the past. He added that this part of the problem is over, and the future is now."
He stated, "It's important for people and the mainstream media to comprehend that we're not solely relying on these forms of media for the truth. While it will still be challenging to distinguish truth from falsehood, an informed public will emerge over the next five to ten years due to open discussions and the ability to gather and analyze information collectively. As a result, we can make more informed decisions."
