The surge in Republican women owning guns could be due to Biden-Harris policies, according to a concealed carry advocate.
While the gender gap in American gun ownership is closing, the political gap is expanding, according to a Gallup poll.
A Second Amendment advocate claims that the increasing number of Republican women owning guns is a direct result of the Biden-Harris administration's policies.
"Katie Pointer Baney told Planet Chronicle Digital that she feels unsafe due to a porous border, rising violent crime, economic instability, and the belief that a firearm is the best tool for self-protection."
Delta Defense and the USCCA have a managing director of government affairs named Baney, who oversees education and training for millions of gun owners.
The ownership of guns among American adults has remained constant at 31%, as per Gallup's recent polling data. However, there has been a slight decline in the number of men owning guns, which has been countered by a 5% increase in the percentage of women who own firearms.
The change grew more dramatic when Gallup factored in politics.
In the most recent six-year data set, the percentage of Republican women who own a gun increased from 19% to 33%, while the percentage of Democratic men who own a firearm decreased from 36% to 29%.
According to Gallup, 60% of Republican men own a gun.
According to Baney, data from thousands of USCCA instructors across the country reveals certain observations.
"The number of women attending classes is increasing significantly, with many being young and new mothers," she stated. "As a new mom myself, I can relate to the motivation behind this trend. It's all about safeguarding themselves and their loved ones."
Baney said it was unfortunate to see a political divide among gun owners.
"Gun ownership should not be a partisan issue, but it often is in political discussions. The decline in Democrats' support for Second Amendment rights at the federal level is reflected in the electorate."
Gallup discovered that individuals from middle-income and upper-income backgrounds, as well as those residing in rural areas, are more likely to own guns compared to their lower-income, urban counterparts. In the South, gun ownership rates are particularly high, with 40% of the population reporting firearm ownership.
Gallup discovered that young Democrats, aged 18-29, had the lowest gun ownership rates at 9%.
The Trump administration's control of the White House may lead to a "some leveling off" in female gun ownership rates, as predicted by Baney.
"I believe they will control violent crime, secure the southern border, and reduce public safety concerns. As a result, gun sales may stabilize or decrease slightly."
Despite changes in purchasing patterns, Baney hopes that gun owners will continue to prioritize training and education.
"To hone your skills, you need to consistently visit the range, regardless of whether you're a beginner or an experienced gun owner."
