The math is indisputable: GOP Sen-elect Dave McCormick defeats longtime Democratic incumbent.
After the Associated Press called the race, Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., did not immediately concede.
In a closely-watched Pennsylvania race, Sen. Bob Casey, a longtime Democratic incumbent, was defeated by Trump-backed businessman Dave McCormick on Thursday afternoon, resulting in Senate Republicans gaining a key seat.
The AP declared McCormick the winner of the race, with a lead of over 30,000 votes.
After receiving a call from the AP, Casey issued a statement on X, stating that approximately 100,000 votes have not yet been counted.
"Pennsylvania is the birthplace of our democratic process. It is crucial that we let the process unfold and count every eligible vote. This is what Pennsylvania deserves," he stated.
McCormick stated on "The Ingraham Angle" that he believes he won the election due to voters' desire for change.
President Trump's election was a reflection of the desire for change, as evidenced by the skyrocketing prices, open border, crime in cities, war on fossil fuels, and the need for common sense leadership, according to the speaker.
In 2024, McCormick made another attempt to secure a seat in the U.S. Senate, but he was unsuccessful in the Republican Senate primary, losing to Dr. Mehmet Oz.
The Pennsylvania resident who graduated from West Point expressed his gratitude to serve the people of his state on Planet Chronicle with Laura Ingraham.
"I am thrilled. This is a crucial moment for our nation, and I am privileged to embody the resilient citizens of Pennsylvania — regardless of political affiliation, I must emphasize, represent, you understand, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents," he stated. "My duty is to advocate for each and every one of them."
McCormick stated that he believes there is no "mathematical route" for Casey to win with the remaining votes.
"I lost an election by 900 votes, so I know that I must process it. Sen. Casey, who has been in elected office for 30 years and has a family history of public service, must also find his way to the right answer. However, I believe the math is clear, and that's why the AP called it and we are confident in moving forward to prepare for the next senatorial position in Pennsylvania."
According to the Planet Chronicle Decision Desk, the Senate would be under Republican control for the first time in three years as of Tuesday night.
