The former presidents were seated together at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., during the state funeral for Jimmy Carter on Thursday morning. Carter passed away at his home in Plains, Georgia, on December 29 at the age of 100.
Surrounded by prominent figures, they included former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former Vice Presidents Mike Pence and Kamala Harris, and former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Although they had been politically at odds for years, the two seemed comfortable with each other as they laughed and joked during their conversation before the service.
