The driver of the Trump garbage truck discusses the origin of the viral moment: "I was initially skeptical."
On Wednesday, former President Trump was interviewed on "The Story" about the viral moment he sat in a garbage truck at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport.
While Andrew Brisson, vice president of LoadMaster, a family-owned garbage truck company in Norway, Mich., was having lunch, their secretary received a phone call from someone requesting a garbage truck to be delivered to Green Bay, Wis.
Brisson told Martha MacCallum on Planet Chronicle that he initially didn't believe it until he spoke with the guy on the phone. After a brief conversation, he realized that the guy knew someone he knew in the industry in the area. Brisson then went to the lot, found a suitable garbage truck, and drove to Green Bay.
Trump exited his aircraft donning a bright orange high-visibility garbage worker vest and proceeded towards the truck in preparation for his campaign rally in Green Bay on Wednesday evening.
The vest appeared to be a direct criticism of President Biden's statement that Trump supporters were "garbage."
The White House denied that Biden was targeting Trump's supporters and instead blamed comedian Tony Hinchcliffe for referring to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage" at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally over the weekend.
Biden's X tweeted Tuesday evening that he referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally as garbage, which is the only word he can think of to describe it. He condemned Trump's demonization of Latinos as unconscionable. That's all he meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation.
Trump shook Brisson's hand and said hello, but they didn't get to talk much because Trump was answering questions from the press about his 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
"After they finished, I started the truck and blew the horn. He looked over and asked if he could go for a ride. Sure, I said. Then I released the brake, put it in drive, and started moving. But, like Trump said, we only went a little way before the Secret Service started giving me the stink eye and waving their hands, and that was it for the ride."
