The Daily Show satirizes Obama's interaction with Trump during the Carter funeral.
Is it a bit strange for Obama to be joking about it?
"The Daily Show" criticized the friendly interactions between former President Obama and President-elect Trump at Jimmy Carter's funeral, despite their opposing political views.
The seating chart at President Jimmy Carter's state funeral in Washington, D.C. was so awkward that it likely prompted the question, "Was there any extra room in that coffin?" she said, referring to the seating arrangement of former presidents Trump, Obama, and others.
She remarked in a Mediaite-flagged clip, "It's a bit strange for Obama to transition from 'this guy is the future Hitler' to 'cool story, future Hitler.'"
""Just consider the history involved," Lysic suggested."
The viral video of Trump and Obama's seemingly friendly interactions during the state funeral has been widely shared online.
The two were chatting cordially when Vice President Kamala Harris turned around and saw them, before turning back to the front with a stone-faced expression.
"It's unclear whether the funeral music was for Carter or for her. Kamala gave the expression I make when someone is talking behind me at the movie theater," she said.
"The comedian said that she didn't look happy to be sitting near Donald Trump and spent the rest of the day flipping through a funeral program like she was searching for 44 electoral votes in it."
Notable figures such as former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former Vice President Mike Pence, and former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were present alongside Trump, Obama, Biden, and Harris.
Obama strongly opposed Trump during his campaign, branding him a danger to American democracy and embodying "our darkest instincts."
