The arrest of an illegal immigrant following a stabbing incident during an Indiana baseball game is recalled by the coach.
Reportedly, MS-13 is linked to the 26-year-old Dimas Gabriel Yanez, who was arrested for stabbing.
One of the coaches at a baseball game in Lowell, Indiana, recounted the moment a teen girl was allegedly stabbed by an illegal immigrant, which took place during the game.
Matt Ramian, who was coaching the young girl's brother's baseball team at the time, joined "Fox & Friends" to discuss what he saw when she was stabbed with a butcher-style knife over the weekend.
Ramian often coaches baseball games, as he did on Wednesday while talking to Ainsley Earhardt.
"A man emerged from behind the dugout and jumped on a girl, pushing her down under the bleachers before pulling out a knife at least 16 to 20 inches long."
"He swung a small knife at her, causing blood to spill on the bleachers and those seated nearby. He then ran down the sidelines, waving the knife at other people."
A manhunt was launched after 10 to 15 fathers and spectators followed the suspect through the woods.
An hours-long manhunt led to the arrest of Dimas Gabriel Yanez, a 26-year-old illegal immigrant from Honduras who was previously deported in 2018.
ABC7 Chicago reported that he was charged with several crimes, including attempted murder, aggravated battery posing a substantial risk of death, battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person under 14, battery by means of a deadly weapon, and intimidation.
Since returning to the country illegally, Yanez may have been involved in criminal activity across the United States, according to the sheriff's office.
According to ABC7 Chicago, Yanez, who is accused of having links to MS-13, has a criminal record that includes charges of battery, trespassing, intoxication, and attempted burglary in New York, Illinois, Georgia, and Ohio.
The young girl who was stabbed in the hand is now doing well and has been released from the hospital after receiving treatment for her injuries, as stated by Ramian.
"Ramian stated, "As an adult, witnessing it, it's quite shocking. It changes your perspective and influences your views on many things. The girl, despite her hospitalization, is doing well. She's being resilient and determined. In fact, she went back to school. Her mother told her she didn't have to attend school if she didn't want to, but she chose to be strong.""
"The boys were stunned, as they were all strong kids, only 12 years old. Despite this, something like that happens, which is not suitable for adults to witness. However, for these kids to see it makes it more challenging and emotional for them."
The assault has left the community and neighboring towns in shock, as they struggle to cope with its aftermath.
"Ramian stated that Lowell is a small, tight-knit town with a large Labor Day weekend music festival. They have daily parades and fireworks shows, offering a variety of activities. Additionally, it's a town where everyone knows everyone."
""Just not for Lowell, but for all the surrounding communities, this happening was quite shocking," he said."
The victim's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills, as stated by Earhardt.
