Sunny Hostin, a co-host on 'The View,' has released a statement regarding insurance fraud accusations against her spouse.
In the statement, Hostin mentioned that the company that filed the lawsuit was on the brink of bankruptcy.
On Tuesday, Sunny Hostin, a co-host of "The View," released a statement regarding the insurance fraud allegations against her husband, asserting that the company bringing forth the lawsuit had a reputation for filing baseless claims.
American Transit Insurance Co., a New York-based commercial auto insurance provider that insures Uber, Lyft, and taxi companies in the state, filed a lawsuit to avoid paying for medical and surgical procedures for people it insured who were in pain.
She stated that the company has a history of filing frivolous claims, has been investigated by New York State, and has been sued by Uber Technologies.
Dr. Emmanuel "Manny" Hostin and his practice, Hostin Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, were included in a major federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO, case filed in the Eastern District of New York on Dec. 17, alongside more than 180 other defendants.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, a "The View" co-host stated that American Transit is on the brink of bankruptcy.
According to the lawsuit, Emmanuel Hostin is accused of receiving kickbacks by "fraudulently billing" American Transit for performing surgery.
Both of Hostin's patients who were involved in "low-impact" collisions in January 2023, despite only sustaining "minimal damage" and experiencing "no more than soft-tissue injuries," underwent arthroscopic surgery, according to the lawsuit.
Sunny Hostin claimed that the company exploited her fame to launch a vile media attack on her spouse.
"American Transit will face a five-million-dollar counter lawsuit for their defamatory claims, which may increase as the reputational damage they have caused is difficult to quantify. Hostin demanded that American Transit withdraw their false allegations, pay her husband what he is owed, and issue a public apology."
Sources informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the lawsuit has been discussed privately on "The View," but Hostin has not yet addressed it on air.
"The situation at the ABC talk show has been discussed internally, but no one is certain how to interpret it."
Legal experts informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the lawsuit being filed under RICO is intended to intimidate behavior. This strategy carries the risk of embroiling defendants, such as Hostin, in lengthy and intricate court proceedings, and may result in substantial financial penalties.
