At the Venice Film Festival press conference, Weaver appeared moved when questioned about how her career contributed to the emergence of influential women, including the Democratic presidential candidate.
The actress was overjoyed when she thought that her work might have contributed to her rise, even though she was crying.
The 74-year-old actress, Weaver, who played Ellen Ripley in the sci-fi horror saga and set a precedent for female action film heroes, was awarded the Golden Lion for lifetime achievement in film at the film festival.
At the press event, a reporter inquired, "How can cinema and movies contribute to the possibility of a woman like Kamala Harris becoming the President of the United States?"
Weaver replied, "I love that question because we're all so excited about Kamala."
The actress acknowledged that her career may have contributed to Harris' rise, as many women are thankful for her portrayal in the first four "Alien" films.
She was overwhelmed with gratitude from numerous women who thanked her, causing her to become emotional and reach for water.
Weaver, who starred in "Ghostbusters" and "Avatar," praised Harris, saying she was happy to see her succeed.

"Why do you always play strong women?" she was asked. "Because women are strong and don't give up," she replied. "That's why we have to do it."
