Sen. Josh Hawley receives endorsement from Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker: "I'd want to support no other person"
Butker announces Hawley as the first candidate he's endorsing.
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker publicly supported Josh Hawley in his bid for re-election to the Senate, commending the former Missouri attorney general for being a "family" and "godly" individual.
On "The Ingraham Angle," NFL star Butker and Hawley made a joint appearance on Thursday, with Butker stating that he took advantage of his bye week to campaign.
I decided to endorse Sen. Josh Hawley, whom I've formed a close relationship with over the years, and who is both a family man and a godly man, as the first candidate I'm endorsing.
Butker's endorsement and the Chiefs kicker out on the campaign trail with him is an "honor" for Hawley, who is running against Democratic candidate Lucas Kunce.
"Hawley stated on "The Ingraham Angle" that he is a man who is not afraid to speak the truth and stand on the principles that the United States was founded on. Despite the left's "crazy, nutty" attack on him last spring, he remained firm and did not back down. The country needs more individuals like him who are not afraid to speak their minds and uphold the country's values."
Earlier this year, Butker faced criticism for his comments about women's careers during a commencement speech at Benedictine College.
He commended the female graduates for their achievements, but asserted that they have been subjected to "malevolent falsehoods" and should instead embrace the role of a "homemaker."
At the time, Butker stated that while some of the attendees may achieve successful careers, most are excited about their upcoming marriage and the children they will raise. He added that his wife, Isabelle, would agree that her life truly began when she became a wife and a mother.
Laura Ingraham of Planet Chronicle reported that he expressed his sadness over how some individuals misinterpreted his words.
He explained that he was attempting to uplift the many women who have devoted their lives to being homemakers and caregivers, emphasizing that this role is valuable despite being often undervalued.
"It's not shameful for women to prioritize their family and spend time with their children, and it's important to recognize the beauty in this choice. While it's understandable for some women to want to pursue an education and career, it's important to respect those who choose to prioritize their family."
Butker stated that he supports the presidential candidate who will be the most pro-life.
"Is there any equivocation about supporting Trump?" Ingraham pressed.
"Butker replied, "I believe you should vote for the most pro-life candidate and be prayerful men who prioritize God first, which I think is the best for our country.""
