Scott Jennings advises CNN commentator to maintain a respectful distance during a heated discussion about Trump and grocery prices.
'Please refrain from touching the table.'
On CNN Thursday, Scott Jennings and Bakari Sellers debated President-elect Donald Trump's assertion that he would reduce high grocery prices for consumers, with Jennings at one point reprimanding Sellers.
"Sellers accused Trump of lying during the campaign when he claimed he would lower prices."
"Sellers stated that while Democrats were only 50% correct, they failed to effectively communicate the story of Americans' pain."
"During Biden's presidency, we made a mistake by stating that inflation was temporary. However, this was not accurate as there were people experiencing the pain of high egg prices."
Scott was not entirely accurate, which occasionally occurs around the table, although I understand your desire to be precise. Sellers then reached out to touch Scott on the arm.
Jennings instructed Sellers not to touch him while patting him on the back, prompting CNN host Abby Phillip to respond.
Phillip instructed everyone to keep their hands off the table.
The camera cut to Jennings, who wasn't smiling and it wasn't clear if he was irked.
The debate among sellers persisted regarding the Biden administration's impact on reducing inflation, particularly in grocery stores.
"This is not Joe Biden's policies," Sellers said.
""Certainly, it is," Jennings replied."
"Of course it's not," Sellers argued, stating that inflation was caused by the COVID pandemic. "Across the globe, inflation rose. That issue was addressed by Joe Biden."
Sellers stated that Scott was correct once more in his assertion that Democrats did not label it as "Trumpflation."
Trump has said high food prices helped him defeat Vice President Kamala Harris.
"In an interview on NBC News' "Meet the Press," Trump stated, "I won on the border, and I won on groceries.""
"Groceries are a simple word, but not many people use it. I started using the word, and when I bought apples, bacon, and eggs, their prices doubled and tripled in a short period of time. This helped me win an election," Trump said.
In an interview with Time, Trump stated that it would be challenging to reduce grocery prices but believed it could be achieved through stabilized supply chains and increased energy production.
