Schumer's Claim that Dems Didn't Mislead on Biden Labeled 'Foolish' by Ex-Obama Adviser
Another CNN commentator claimed that Democrats and Biden were being "naive."
On Monday, Van Jones, a CNN commentator and former Obama adviser, criticized Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for stating that Democrats had not deceived the public about President Biden's capability to serve.
"Jones stated, "That's foolish. Biden was in bad shape, and I was surprised, but people close to him should have known better. A lot was known and not shared, and now it's leaking out. To maintain credibility and integrity, people must quit playing around. Schumer's nose will grow if he continues to say such things.""
On "Meet the Press" on Sunday, NBC News' Kristen Welker presented Schumer with a clip from February where he spoke positively about Biden's mental acuity. Schumer reiterated on Sunday that Democrats were truthful about Biden's health, refuting any right-wing propaganda suggesting otherwise.
On Monday night, CNN host Abby Phillip stated that the unanswered question about whether Biden could have served another four years, posed to Schumer, was "incredibly telling." Other CNN panelists concurred.
"S.E. Cupp stated that she saw both Joe Biden and Democrats defending him, claiming he was just as strong as when he first got in, which she considered delusional."
"Although I believed they were going to lose, I think it's best to admit it and move on. Your continued TV appearances and negative comments are likely to damage your credibility for future events," she stated.
Scott Jennings, a CNN political commentator, pointed out that confessing to concealing Biden's health issues would be acknowledging one of the most significant political cover-ups in recent American history.
"Politicians from the Democratic party lied, as did pundits who covered the White House. Many journalists who reported on the White House looked the other way or believed the false information they were given by the press secretary. Admiting this now would mean acknowledging that they tried to deceive the public, which Jennings understands why they would want to keep up the charade to some extent. However, he also recognizes that admitting the cover-up would mean acknowledging the massive deception that took place."
During a panel discussion, Ashley Allison, who worked for the Biden-Harris campaign, stated that the June debate was informative but hinted that the president might experience good days and bad days.
On Sunday, Schumer commended Biden's record, stating that the legislation they passed together, including the appointment of 235 judges, was one of the most significant since the Great Society. He also praised Biden as a patriot and a great person before he stepped down on his own accord. Schumer encouraged everyone to salute Biden.
Schumer stated that he wouldn't speculate on whether Biden could have served another four years, but he believed his record was exceptional and he would be remembered as an outstanding president.
