Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticizes mainstream media aligned with the Democratic National Committee, claiming they orchestrated Kamala Harris' ascent to the presidency.
Kennedy accuses institutions of becoming government mouthpieces and stenographers for powerful organs, according to reporters.
Kennedy Jr. accused liberal media outlets of colluding with the Democratic Party to stifle his campaign and create a false sense of popularity for Kamala Harris.
"During his 10-month presidential campaign in 1992, Ross Perot gave 34 interviews on mainstream networks. In contrast, during the 16 months since I declared, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN combined gave only two live interviews with me. Those networks instead ran a continuous deluge of hit pieces with inaccurate, often vile pejoratives and defamatory smears. Some of those same networks colluded with the DNC to keep me off the debate stage."
Kennedy, the nephew of President John F. Kennedy and son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, both of whom were assassinated, stated that his famous Democratic family members would be "astonished" to discover that Harris had not conducted a single interview or "unscripted encounter with voters" in the nearly five weeks she has been leading the party.
This is deeply undemocratic. How can people make informed choices when they lack knowledge of the candidates, and how will this appearance harm our nation's image abroad?" he inquired. "My father and uncle were always mindful of America's global standing, as our country serves as a model for democratic processes and a leader of the free world. Instead of showcasing her character and values, the DNC and its media outlets manipulated public opinion in favor of Vice President Harris, without providing any substance.
"Only smoke and mirrors, balloons, and a highly produced Chicago circus exist without policies, interviews, or debates."
After President Biden stepped aside from the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Harris, the Democratic party swiftly united behind her as the nominee. Harris officially accepted the nomination on Thursday.
Kennedy began his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in April of the previous year, but by October, the 70-year-old candidate had shifted his focus to an independent bid for the presidency.
Kennedy admonished journalists during his speech to remember their "sacred duty" to scrutinize the ruling party, which he claimed had intentionally obstructed him from fairly contesting Biden for the Democratic nomination.
Kennedy criticized his former political party as a party that "abandoned democracy" and was now a party of "war, censorship, corruption," and major pharmaceutical and tech companies.
"I believe that I would have won the election in an honest system, but now I doubt my chances due to the relentless censorship and media control."
Representatives from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC did not promptly respond to inquiries regarding Kennedy's allegations of collaboration against them.
Kennedy spoke directly to the media outlets present during his comments.
Kennedy stated that your institutions have become government mouthpieces and stenographers for the organs of power, and you could have prevented the devolution of American democracy, but you didn't cause it alone.
Kennedy's poll numbers have dropped from high double digits to an average of 4 percent in recent surveys. Despite his support for Trump, it is uncertain whether it will benefit the Republican ticket. However, even a slight increase of one or two percentage points could be crucial in deciding the outcome in key battleground states.
Trump thanked Kennedy for his endorsement while speaking in Las Vegas on Friday, calling him "respected by everybody."
The DNC expressed relief, stating to Planet Chronicle Digital, "Good riddance."
The Harris campaign stated that any American seeking a fresh direction could join their team.
"To serve the needs of working people and those who feel marginalized, we require a leader who will fight for you, not just for themselves, and unite us, not divide us. Vice President Harris aims to win your support," a spokesperson stated. "Regardless of our differing viewpoints, Kamala Harris recognizes that there is more that unites us than divides us: respect for our rights, public safety, safeguarding our freedoms, and equal opportunities for all."
