Riley Gaines didn't believe that expressing the idea "men and women are different" would make her an influencer, but it did.
Gains aims to serve as a role model for future female athletes.
Riley Gaines from OutKick gained popularity as a social media influencer after stating a seemingly uncontroversial opinion: "Men and women are different."
In 2022, Gains, a 12-time All-American swimmer at the University of Kentucky, gained notoriety in conservative circles when she tied with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the 200-yard NCAA freestyle championship. Since then, she has become one of America's most influential advocates for women's rights, with over 1 million followers on X and hundreds of thousands more across other platforms.
Gaines expressed surprise to Planet Chronicle Digital that he has gained over a million followers on X alone for a statement that has never been controversial in the nearly 250 years of the country's existence.
""In our current world and time, it is considered controversial to assert that men and women are different," she stated."
Riley Gaines is an ambassador for the Independent Women's Forum, hosts OutKick's "Gaines for Girls" podcast, wrote a bestselling book, "Swimming Against the Current," directs the Leadership Institute's Riley Gaines Center, and frequently meets with legislators across the country.
Gaines stated that he never desired to be in this position, never prepared for it, and never sought after it. However, he saw a need.
Gaines, after competing against Thomas, observed that few athletes spoke out against what she called the "harmful gender ideology movement," so she tried to fill the gap and defend biological women.
These past two years have been a whirlwind, she stated.
"Gaines stated, "Social media has enabled me to not only share my own experiences but also the increasing number of stories of this happening to other athletes.""
The gender ideology movement affects not only women athletes but also the corporate world and academia, as stated by Gains.
Gaines stated that the negative impact of the agenda being pushed by President Biden and those in the White House is being felt in various settings, including beauty pageants, sororities, prisons, and beyond.
Elon Musk's commitment to free speech is what makes Gains prefer Twitter over other social media platforms. She has made good friends on the platform that she wouldn't have met otherwise. Gains uses Twitter, along with Instagram, in a personal capacity, just like any other 24-year-old with a smartphone.
While I may be known for my hunting and fishing interests, I'm also a big animal lover with many dogs. I follow a variety of outdoor accounts, as well as my favorite sports teams. I'm still very active in sports and enjoy keeping up with the latest news and trends.
"Gains stated that social media significantly aids in staying informed and maintaining a daily sense of happiness."
Gains is content with the impact social media has allowed her to make and is pleased to include "influencer" to her expanding collection of titles.
Gaines stated, "Being a role model for young girls is a significant responsibility, and it brings me joy to know that I am making a difference in their lives. There are not many people who can serve as role models, and I am honored to be one of them. Through my social media platform, I hope to continue inspiring the next generation of young girls."
