Rep. Crockett likens meeting with Musk, Ramaswamy about DOGE to visiting January 6 defendants in prison.
'"Now, I'm not sure they want to meet with me," the Texas Democrat stated.'
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, stated on Thursday that she is open to meeting with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, likening the reasoning behind this to a visit to see January 6 defendants in prison.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, both co-leading President-elect Donald Trump's newly formed spending cuts project, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), are being closely worked with by Congressional Republicans.
On Thursday, the DOGE duo met with Republican lawmakers in Washington, D.C., first visiting the Senate DOGE Caucus and then attending a meeting with House GOP leaders and House DOGE Caucus representatives.
Wallace stated on her MSNBC show that Musk and Ramaswamy have expressed a desire to meet with Democrats during their next visit, and asked Crockett if she would accept their invitation.
"I would definitely meet with them," Crockett said. "However, I'm not sure if they want to meet with me. I would absolutely listen to them if they have this DOGE commission or whatever they're calling it. I want to understand as much as I can so I can report back."
She added, "It was like the time we visited the January 6ers in jail to ensure the truth was reported."
She invited them to come and talk so she could ensure the truth was present.
In March 2023, a group of 12 Republican members of the House Oversight Committee, including two Democrats, visited a Washington D.C. jail to see some January 6 defendants being held.
""If we weren't present, there would be no verification of what the Republicans claimed," Crockett stated during the visit."
