Rapper Icewear Vezzo reveals he is considering voting for Trump and encourages others to ask questions before making a decision.
Vezzo believes that the Black community's vote should be earned through hard work, rather than being entitled to it.
Icewear Vezzo, a Detroit rapper, has announced that he will base his vote in the 2024 presidential election on his personal experiences with President Biden and former President Trump, despite his family's historical voting habits being Democrat.
On Tuesday, Vezzo advised "The Story with Martha MacCallum" that the Black community's vote should be "earned," emphasizing the importance of avoiding past mistakes where individuals voted "mindlessly" based on personal emotions.
"Many Democrats believe that we should blindly vote without questioning, but I think this generation is realizing the importance of asking questions and working for our votes. We should not vote based solely on personal feelings or popular opinion. Instead, we should base our votes on personal experience and the outcomes we've seen from different leaders."
Vezzo revealed the reason for meeting with Trump during a campaign stop in Michigan.
"I told Donald that I made America great again, but not everyone will agree with this picture. However, we don't all have to agree on everything. I took a risk and spoke up about how I really feel, knowing that not many of us will ever have the chance to do so. I met Donald not as a rapper, but as a man and a father who understands that the only way to change things is to address them."
In past years, other prominent rappers such as Lil Pump, Kodak Black, Amber Rose, and Sexyy Red have also voiced support for the former president.
This year, Snoop Dogg expressed his admiration for Trump, stating, "nothing but love and respect."
Lawrence Taylor and Ottis Anderson, New York Giants legends, attended the former president's rally in New Jersey on May 11, highlighting his growing support among Black Americans.
A recent poll by USA Today and Suffolk University showed that Black voter support for Biden decreased by about 20% in Michigan and Pennsylvania compared to the previous election. In Michigan, the poll revealed that Trump received 15% of Black voters' support, while Biden had 54% of the Black vote.
Vezzo has not fully endorsed former President Trump, but he is leaning towards him.
"When Trump was in office, my life and my family's life were different, the economy was different, and I became more concerned about the border."
Vezzo stated, "We have enough sense to ask questions. We're not all fools, even if we're from the trenches or the ghetto. We don't solely focus on money. I don't get paid, but I'm someone who wants to use their voting power. I'm a felon, and I haven't always been able to vote, but now I can, and I want to take advantage of it by asking questions."
"My entire family and the generations before my mother and grandmother have always voted Democrat. Despite not asking questions, I chose to inquire."
