Pro-life Democrats may abandon the party during 'Abortion-palooza' at DNC: 'It's just absolutely disgusting'
Democrats For Life of America executive director Kristen Day asserts that it is detrimental to women.
The Democratic National Convention in Chicago is featuring an "abortion-palooza" event.
The Democrats For Life of America executive director, Kristen Day, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that Democrats are degrading human life and women specifically, and that their continued celebration of abortion is absolutely disgusting.
The "mobile health clinic" parked in Chicago during the convention offers free abortions, which appalls Day. Additionally, pro-abortion activists marched through the streets of Chicago prior to the convention.
"I believe this convention will become an abortion-palooza. In response, we will offer real support to women in need. Therefore, we initiated a diaper drive," Day stated.
"Abortions are what planned parenthood does. They do not support pregnant women. This confirms that their main focus is abortion, and they don't care about anything else."
The "overall problem" with the Democratic Party, according to Day, is the persistent "celebration of abortion," which was once viewed as something progressives wanted to be safe, legal, and rare.
She stated that the fixation on it by extremists is harmful to women.
"In states with the highest abortion rates, they do not even report the numbers, side effects, or negative effects. In some states, women have nine or more abortions. This is not good for women's health. Therefore, I believe the celebration of having free abortions here is a real tragedy for Americans."
Democrats For Life of America is further motivated by the fact that Day predicted that the DNC would occur without any discussion of "respecting life."
Democrats should prioritize respecting human life and providing resources to pregnant women and new mothers, which aligns with their values. Abortions and killing babies are not consistent with helping the most vulnerable in society, as Day stated.
This election year, Democrats have highlighted abortion as a key issue in their campaigns nationwide, emphasizing that a Republican-controlled Congress, coupled with another four years of former President Trump in the White House, would result in a nationwide ban on abortion.
The Democratic Party has intensified its discourse on "a woman's right to choose" following the reversal of Roe v. Wade and Vice President Kamala Harris's assumption of the presidency.
When it comes to the polarizing issue of abortion, former Presidents Clinton and Obama largely adhered to the "safe, legal and rare" mantra, but with Kamala Harris, it's "abortion first."
"I don't see where we go as pro-life Democrats in this party when they don't want us," Day said.
She said her group is in Chicago to directly engage with Democratic leaders.
Day stated, "We wish to engage with the delegates and inquire, 'Do you believe this party is large enough to accommodate pro-life Democrats? Should we be included?' As such, I am eager to have these discussions and determine the future of pro-life Democrats and our position within the party."
Day expressed her desire to inquire from Vice President Harris and other prominent Democrats whether they have ever conversed with a woman who regrets an abortion, someone who required assistance from a pregnancy center to carry their baby to full term, or a rape victim who opted to keep the baby. She believes that the celebration of abortion can cause further harm to these women, who have already made challenging choices.
If DNC chair Jaime Harrison gets a chance to speak with Day, it will be a first.
Since I began my job, I have met with every newly elected party chair and brought pro-life Democrats into the DNC to explain the importance of the party being a big tent and including diverse voices.
"Jaime Harrison declined to meet with us, as he refused to engage with elected Democrats on the issue and to gain a clearer understanding of our position."
A DNC representative declined to provide a comment about Harrison.
Since working on Michael Dukakis' campaign in 1988, Day, a lifelong Democrat, has expressed her intention to discuss leaving the party after witnessing the rampant glorification of abortion at the DNC. Additionally, she feels real hostility from Democrats due to her pro-life views.
"We need to carefully consider this decision," she stated. "The Republican Party has become a big tent party, while the Democratic Party is becoming increasingly narrow. If I leave, it won't be because I want to, but because they don't want me."
The Republicans' move to open the door for pro-life Democrats could drastically impact elections.
""The abortion issue is so crucial to the Democratic Party, it seems like they are not concerned about winning," she stated."
The Chicago families have received thousands of dollars from the Democrats For Life of America diaper drive.
Day stated that they are communicating with local pregnancy centers in Chicago to determine their requirements so that they can meet all their demands.
