Dr. Fauci maintains his innocence after being pardoned by President Biden.

Fauci expressed gratitude to President Biden for the action taken on his behalf, as he told ABC News's Jonathan Karl on Monday.

Jon, I want to make it clear that I have not committed any crime and there is no basis for any allegation or threat of criminal investigation or prosecution against me.

Fauci expressed gratitude for the pardon, stating that the threat of politically motivated prosecution causes immense distress for him and his family.

He made a similar statement shortly after accepting the pardon.

Fauci wrote, "I want to make it clear: I have not committed any crime and there is no basis for any accusation or threat of criminal investigation or prosecution against me. However, the mere mention of these unfounded threats and the possibility that they will be carried out causes immense and unbearable distress for me and my family. As a result, I acknowledge and thank President Biden for taking action on my behalf."

Biden had hinted at the possibility of issuing preemptive pardons several weeks ago during an interview with USA Today. Biden's pardons at the end of his term have been met with controversy, particularly the pardon for his son, Hunter Biden.

Biden granted pardons to several individuals, including Gen. Mark Milley, just before leaving the White House. The pardon also applies to those involved in the January 6 select committee investigation, as reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.

Despite speculation that they may face backlash from the incoming administration, Special Counsel Jack Smith, former FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Attorney General Merrick Garland are not included in the pardon.
