Politico is criticized by JD Vance for softening Biden's statement about Trump supporters being "garbage."
Vance wrote on X that the 'journalists' covering up a catastrophic error from Kamala's campaign is a scandal.
On Tuesday, Sen. JD Vance criticized Politico for allegedly trying to soften President Biden's negative comments about Trump supporters by calling them "garbage."
Biden criticized Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden during a virtual campaign call with Voto Latino, where comedian Tony Hinchiffe made offensive jokes about different ethnic groups, including Puerto Rico being referred to as a "floating island of garbage."
""His supporters are the only garbage floating out there, and his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American," Biden stated on the call."
It appears that Politico White House bureau chief Jonathan Lemire interpreted what he believed Biden intended to say in his reporting of the remark.
In a Zoom call with Vote Latino, Biden stated that the only "garbage" was the "hatred" of Trump supporters who made such statements about American citizens.
The reaction was swift and intense. Immediately, critics attacked the publication for printing a weakened quote, with Vance accusing Lemire of compromising his journalistic ethics, which he called a "scandal."
"Have @JonLemire, @alexanderburns, and @politico any integrity? Will they correct this obvious falsehood?" he wrote on X.
Vance posted a clip of Biden's comments, stating, "Here's the actual video. The fact that these 'journalists' are covering for a catastrophic error from Kamala's campaign is a scandal."
Donald Trump Jr. also reprimanded the outlet on X.
This wasn't an accident, as @politico reported. @JonLemire, a leftist hack, attempted to cover up for Team Kamala by lying about what was said to protect her. He failed to realize that the video would expose him as a liar and a Dem propagandist!!
Biden was "being taken out of context" in the White House's transcript, according to Lemire, who used their punctuation in their follow-up report.
The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter's -- his -- his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it's un-American.
But even CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins didn't buy that spin.
"You can listen to it for yourself, which makes it harder to truly examine it," Collins remarked.
Biden used social media to clarify his comment while the White House attempted to manage the fallout internally.
"At his Madison Square Garden rally, Trump's supporter spewed hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico, which I described as garbage. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation."
The White House spokesperson had previously stated to Planet Chronicle that the President referred to the hateful rhetoric at the Madison Square Garden rally as "garbage." The Harris campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
At a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Trump responded to the "terrible" remark.
"Remember Hillary? She said 'deplorable' and then said 'irredeemable.' But she said 'deplorable.' That didn't work out. 'Garbage' I think is worse," Trump said to his supporters. "But he doesn't know- you have to please forgive him. Please forgive him. For he not knoweth what he said."
Trump joked, "I believe he likes me better than Kamala."
Politico did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
