Pixar's 'Win or Lose' animated show no longer includes a transgender storyline, as Disney has decided to remove it.
Disney+ will launch Pixar's series 'Win or Lose' in February 2025.
A spokesperson for Disney confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the transgender storyline in the upcoming Pixar series "Win or Lose" has been dropped.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Pixar Animation Studios' "Win or Lose" follows a co-ed middle-school softball team named the Pickles in the week leading up to their championship softball game.
Disney removed lines of dialogue referencing a character's gender identity from later episodes in the show.
According to a source close to Win or Lose, the studio made the decision to alter course several months ago, as reported by THR.
The media company's spokesperson stated in a statement that the changes were made to respect parents' preference to discuss such topics with their children privately.
Disney spokesperson stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that parents of younger viewers prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline when it comes to animated content.
Pixar's first-ever original series, "Win or Lose," will debut on Disney+ in February 2025.
Conservatives have criticized Disney for including messages about sexuality and gender identity in its entertainment targeted at young viewers.
The release of Pixar's "Lightyear" in 2022 was met with criticism before its premiere due to rumors of a same-sex kiss in the animated film. Despite this, the movie failed to perform well at the box office, earning only $51 million during its opening weekend.
In its opening weekend, "Elemental," Pixar's first "non-binary" character film, grossed $29.5 million.
Notably, Disney has included LGBTQ+ content in its adult-oriented programming, including Marvel Television's Agatha All Along, Searchlight Pictures' All of Us Strangers, Next Goal Wins, Fire Island, and FX's Pose, among others, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
