People are upset' as Trump leads Harris in Pennsylvania bakery's election 'cookie poll
According to the owner of Lochel's Bakery, they have sold 5,200 Trump cookies compared to 500 Harris cookies, as reported on 'Fox & Friends First'.
A bakery in a swing state is using cookies to sweeten and intensify the competition in the upcoming presidential election.
Customers from across the country are placing orders for Lochel's Bakery's red Trump cookies and blue Harris cookies in Hatboro, Pa., to show their support for their chosen candidate.
By Friday morning, the shop had sold 5,200 Trump cookies compared to 500 Harris cookies.
According to Kathleen Lochel, owner of "Fox & Friends First," people support Trump everywhere.
Her customers are expressing how high costs under the Biden-Harris administration are affecting them, according to Lochel.
"Many individuals are expressing their dissatisfaction with the current prices, and they are sharing their frustrations with us," she stated, emphasizing that the bakery maintains a neutral stance and values all of its customers, regardless of their political beliefs.
Grocery costs have also put a strain on the shop's operations.
""We have not raised our prices in three years on almost all items, but my husband says we can't continue as prices are getting too high," Lochel said."
The bakery was saved in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the cookie competition, according to Lochel.
"When the pandemic struck in 2020, we were on the brink of shutting down the bakery and wondering what the future held. I gathered the employees and we collectively decided to continue making cookies."
"We would not be here today if it were not for the red and blue cookies from 2020."
The unexpected visit of Eric Trump to her shop to buy cookies aided her business's survival during the pandemic.
Many people benefit from the Trump name bringing in a lot of business, she stated.
Almost all the shipments of cookies within the battleground state have been red, while only one-third of the cookies have been shipped to outside states, with the remaining staying in the Keystone State.
She stated that only seven packages of blue have been shipped in Pennsylvania.
Since 2012, Lochel has hosted an informal poll, accurately predicting the outcome of three out of the last four elections. However, in 2020, the winning streak came to an end when 31,804 Trump cookies were sold, compared to 5,750 Biden cookies.
The bakery has repeatedly emphasized the lighthearted nature of the project, stating in a recent social media post, "Stay relaxed… it's just a cookie."
